Gerth to OFSAA
BELGRAVE--Sjaan Gerth was the
only athlete representing the F. E.
Madill Secondary School to ad-
vance to the recent OFSAA cross-
country meet held at London.
Gerth won the gold medal at the
WOSSA meet held at the Spring -
water Conservation Area near
Aylmer late last month. Over 600
of the best runners in Southwestern
Ontario took part in the event.
Gerth battled the enure 5,000 -
metre distance at WOSSA with a
runner from Woodstock. Even
though the two runners were separ-
ated by no more than 20 metres
throughout the race, Gerth made a
final sprint to the finish line to take
the gold medal with a time of 18:08
minutes.
Congratulations also are extend-
ed to Melina Hussey and Kendra
Folkard, part of the ninth -place
Midget girls' team. Simone Bleeker
was a member of the eighth -place
Senior girls' team and the Midget
boys' team, of which Gerth was a
member, finished ninth over-all.
Junior Mustang...Jacquelyn Elston dribbles the ball as she waited for teammates
to get into better position during last Wednesday afternoons final regular season game against
South Huron Panthers. Watching the play progress is Joanne Huber (11). Madill received a 20
point effort from Andrea Hiller as the Mustangs won 63=33. The junior Mustangs host the
county championship today at 2 p.m.
Wescast Pee Wees handed
two onewgoal setbacks
The Wingham Wescast Pee
Wee Bs travelled to Ayton on
Thursday and played a disappoint-
ing game, losing 2-i.
The Pee Wee Bs didn't have any
extra effort and Ayton did what it
took to steal the win.
Tom Mullin scored the lone
Wingham goal from a long shot
from the point, from Tim Robin-
son.
Wingham started to come on
later in the game, but were unable
to to get hack into the game, be-
cause of the l0 -minute periods.
The effort was much improved
Sunday, but the results were the
same.
Visiting Mildmay jumped out to
a quick 3-0 lead in the second af-
ter the teams played a well hal-
anced first period.
Fighting back, Justin Campbell
scored the team's first shorthanded
goal of the season after Adam
McQuiggan slarnmed an Ayton
player into the hoards with some
good forechecking hustle.
Then Kyle Anderson
scored
with assists from Peter Dixon and
Craig Marks to make it close. At
the 11:17 mark of the third period
Garrett Skinn fired a shot high to
tie the game at three. Assists were
received by Aaron Himmelman
and Geoff Lindsay.
Mildmay won the game with
less then three minutes left in the
third period, on a breakaway shot
that was just too hot to handle.
Wingham pulled their goalie for
an extra attacker and came close,
but just couldn't get the equalizer.

Here Are The Facts:
Almost 9 of out of 10 homes in southwestern Ontario with access
to gas, heat°their homes with natural gas. As natural gas becomes available
to more households, more oil and electric home owners are realizing the
energy and money saving benefits of converting to natural gas.
Replacing an oil, electric or propane system to high -efficiency natural gas
could save you up to 64%* on your residential heating bills.
Natural gas is cleaner and can be less harmful to the environment than
any other fossil fuel. You may not realize it, but natural gas can
significantly reduce harmful CO2 emissions.
Natural gas will save you more than money and energy. You'll also have
more space when you get rid of your old oil tank
