Obituaries
LENNIPS--Gwen Lennips of
Lucknow passed away at Wingham.
and District Hospital on Tuesday,
Sept. 12, 1995, at the age of 62.
Born June 2, 1933, in Harden -
burg, Holland, Mrs. Lennips was a
daughter of the late Evert Weiden
and his wife Johanna, who is left to
mourn her daughter's passing. In
addition to her mother, Mrs. Len -
nips is survived by her sister, Eef

Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson of
Barrie visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Garner Nicholson and also with
Mr. and Mrs. Rob Nicholson of
Listowel recently.
Visiting at the home of Mrs.
Beth Procter were Mr. and Mrs.
Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda
and Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton, as
well as a friend, Tammy Allen of
Walkerton.
Jack Higgins is a patient at
Wingham and District Hospital af-
ter having hip surgery last month at
University Hospital in London.
Friends, neighbors and relatives
wish him a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bieman of
Kincardine visited with Agnes Bie-
man last Saturday. Last Sunday,
George Inglis took Mrs. Bieman to
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger
Rieman to help celebrate Susan's
birthday.
A 25th wedding anniversary cel-
ebration honoring Harold and Nan-
cy Jardin was held in the Belgrave
Community Centre on Friday, Sept.
8. Over 200 well-wishers attended
the open house. A mock wedding
ceremony added fun to the evening,
as did a performance by the "Carry
On Cloggers" which Harold and
Nancy also took part in. Relatives
and friends came from as far away
as London, Glencoe, Hepworth and
the surrounding area. Congratula-
tions to Harold and Nancy on this
special occasion.
Nora and Ben Huskinson of Cal-
lander were weekend guests recent-
ly at the home of Florence McArt-
er. They attended the Blyth
Threshers' 'Reunion at which Mr.
Huskinson displayed his wood-
working at the arena.
A get -acquainted school and
community barbecue will be held
on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m., at East Wawanosh Pub-
lic School. Enjoy a meal cooked by
the staff, tour the school with your
chilihuir and visit with friends, Hot-
dogs, hamburgers, pop, coffee,
doughnuts and doughnut holes will
be available.

Left to mourn' the loss of a dear
wife is Albert Lennips of Lucknow.
There are five children surviving:
Joanne VanDerVeen of Lucknow;
Jean Lennips of St. Mary's; Henry
Lennips and his wife Lisa of Kitch-
ener.; Evelyn Lennips of Kitchener
and Dorothy and her husband, Greg
Laidlaw of Kitchener. There also
are five grandchildren.
Mrs. Lennips was predeceased
by her father, brothers Ben and Ar-
nold and one infant grandson, Cal-
vin James.
Visitation was held at the MacK-
enzie and McCreath Funeral Home
in 'Lucknow Last Thursday evening,
Sept. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. A pri-
vate funeral service. was held on
Friday, Sept. 15, conducted by Rev.
B. Bresnahan of the Lucknow Unit-
ed Church, where Mrs. Lennips
was a member. The United Church
choir sang "In the Garden" and Bill
Lennips gave the eulogy.
A graveside service followed at
South Kinloss Cemetery. Pallbear-
ers were George McInnes, Gordon
Maize, Ross Hamilton, Geoff Ham-
ilton, Jerry .Meurs and Glen Wal-
den.

BELGRAVE--The afternoon unit
of the United Church Women re-
sumed its meeting on Sept. 12 in
the Sunday School room with nine
members present. Audrey Fenton
opened the meeting with a short
reading.
The minutes of the June meeting
were read and approved. Home and
hospital visits also were recorder
Janisa Coultes read a very interest
ing article concerning Carotin,
MacDonald, a native of Wingharl'1,
who served for many years as a
missionary in Japan. Mrs. Coultes
noted there is a book entitled A
Heart at Leisur from Itself, which
recounts her many accomplish-
ments.
Mrs. Fenton led the worship on
pride. Mary Taylor was in charge
of the Bible study on the Book of
Matthew. Alice Scott introduced
the new mission study on "Work,
Money and Meaning". Edith Vin-
cent read a few items from Man-
date.
The Lord's Prayer closed the
meeting.
Seniors Day Centre has
a ball with lawn bowling
"We had a ball," was just one of
the comments made on Monday,
Sept. 11. The Wingham Lawn
Bowling Club was wonderful in
demonstrating the game and the
weather was sunny (answering our
prayers).
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, over 50
people traveled to the St. Jacob's
Farmers' Market. It definitely
helped, its. welcome fall, seeing the
outdoor vendors and watching the
Amish countryside. Everyone en-
joyed the lunch at Millbank.
Health care was the topic last
Wednesday as Shoreline Health
Co. demonstrated its new, life -
enhancing products. Bath tub sup-
ports and back rests were of interest
to the seniors.
"All ye lads and lassies" enjoyed
the traditional music of Marianne
(Frayne) Hogan last Thursday at
the centre. Her singing is so nice
and we are fortunate to have an au-
diotape of Marianne's "Simple
Gifts" to keep and share.
Belgrave was our destination last
Friday, Sept. 15, for the town's an-
nual school fair. It was wonderful
to see the children's hard work and
creativity displayed. Congratula-
tions to the organizers for a memor-
able event.

and Bill and Shelly Gams of Lis-
towel attended the Blyth Thresh-
ers' Reunion earlier this month.
Steve Klumpenhower has taken
a position with Wescast at Strath-
roy.
Christine Sanderson recently vis-
ited at the home of Lloyd and Lau-
ranne Mapplebeck of Truro, Nova
Scotia.
Murray and Barbara Hayden vis-
ited over the weekend with rela-,
tives at Chatham.
Isabel Adams visited last Sunday:
at the home of Duff and Rosemary

sion of Anne Wylie's 92nd birth-

ri's and Jennifer's birthdays at
Amberley. Faith Cooke, Stephen
and Jamie Wylie, Christine and Aa-
ron Wylie also attended.
Corporal Stephen Johnston of
Pembroke spent the weekend with
his parents, Etoile and Harold John-
ston. Stephen now is stationed at
Pembroke.
A large crowd gathered at the
Bluevale Community Hall on Sept.
9 in honor of Jim and Sue John-
ston's 25th wedding anniversary.
Guests and relatives attended from
Toronto, Oshawa, Sutton, St.
Thomas, Parry Sound and the .local
area.
Irving and Marg Elliott of Cais-
tor Centre spent a few days at their
home here.
