The home -and -home series was played Saturday evening at the Listowel Memorial Arena and then at the Erin Arena Sunday af- ternoon. Both games ended in draws. After taking a 2-0 lead early in the game Saturday, the Ironmen needed a power play marker with 17 seconds remaining in the con- test to salvage a 6-6 tie. The Ironmen scored the lone goal of the third period Sunday af- ternoon as they skated to a 1-1 draw. Penalties proved to be the dif- ference Saturday evening, as Erin tallied three power play markers and the Ironmen managed just the one, despite have numerous oppor- tunities, including a pair of 'two- man advantage situations at the start of the third period. Erin outskated the• Ironmen through most of the contest, but it was unnessary penalties and strong goaltending by the Wing - ham netminders that prevented. Erin from running away with the game. The Ironmen opened the scoring at 1:25 of the first period when Scott MacDonald drifted a shot past starting Erin netminder Chad Hughes. Rob Wallace and Mark Wilson earned assists on the mark- er. Brett Sangster gave the Ironmen a 2-0 lead at 7:46 when he back- handed the puck past Hughes after skating down the slot. Terry Wil- liams and Jason Thompson re- ceived the assists. Jason Fairciove netted Erin's first marker at 10:13 after being set-up at the edge of the crease by Eric Medieros. Eric evened the score at two 47 seconds later when Medieros drilled a high shot over the shoul- der of starting Wingham netmind- er Brad Knight.
