HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Wingham Advance Times, 1995-08-02, Page 2• • ARMSTRONG—Hugh Robert Armstrong of Maple Court Villa, Walkerton and formerly oL Teeswa- ter, passed away on Monday, July 24, 1995, in his 86th year. The husband of the late Llewella Pletch, Mr. Armstrong was the fa- ther of Barbara and Carman Fuller- ton of Paisley and Mac Armstrong of Palmerston. He was the grandfa- ther of Robert and Gail, John, James and Dianne Fullerton and Elaine, Andrea and Randy Arm- strong. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Alan (Mary) Halliday of Culross Township. He was predeceased by his brother Mac and a sister Ann. The family of the late Hugh Armstrong received friends at the MacPherson Funeral Chapel, Tees - water, where the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Stephen Lindsay on Thursday, July 27, at 2 p.m. Honorary bearers were grand- sons James Fullerton and Randy Armstrong. Pallbearers were Rob- ert Fullerton, Bob Colvin, Don Sto- bo, Mery McAllister, Roy Penning- ton and Bruce Laing. Four granddaughters, Gail Fullerton, Dianne Fullerton, Elaine Arm- strong and Andrea Armstrong, car- ried flowers. Interment in Culross- TeeswaterCemetery. Memorial services were held on Tuesday evening, July 25, by the Lions Club of Teeswater, Masonic Lodge No. 276 and Huron Chapter No. 89, Order of the Eastern Star: McLENNAN--John Stewart McLennan of Teeswater passed away on Monday, July 24, 1995, in Brussels Mennon;ite service ftatures Virginiwi as guest &RUSSETS --Sunday, July 23, was a busy day for the congregation at the Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. Mervin Lichty was worship leader at the Sunday service, Thelma Steinman was song leader and Manivan Larprom, pianist. Teresa Farrell and Christy Pardys 'led the children's singing. The guest speaker was Roy, Cal- lahan of Virginia. He stressed the importance of relationships, both with God and with fellow man. Mi- chelle Lichty read the scripture pas- sage from Acts 2: 42-47. Donna Callahan of Virginia and her sister --in-law, Mrs. Steinman, provided special music by singing a duet. Joanne Steinman played a pia- no solo for the offertory. Eleven youth and leaders traveled to Wich- ita last week to attend a Mennonite youth convention. During the Sun- day service, they each were recog- nized and given God's blessing for the trip and revival session. On the afternoon of July 23, sev- eral members of the congregation put on a service at Huronlea. Mar- garet MacLeod gave the meditation and Darlene and Anne Hemingway sang a duet. Anne was worship leader and Christy Pardys, pianist. Also that afternoon and evening, EADIE--Philip and Heather Eadie, RR 1, Wingham, are glad to an- nounce the arrival of their third daughter, Kelsie Joy, bom July 22 at St. Joseph's Health Centre in London. The new arrival weighed 8 his 78th/ear. lbs., 9 oz. and is a wee sister for Jill He was the beloved husband of and Jodie. the former Evelyn Sharpin and the COUSINS --Ken and Sheila Cou- dear father of Ruth and Ronald sins of Brussels welcome their new Schefter, RR 4, Wingham; Bruce ' baby son, Adam James, born July and Janet McLennan of Beams- 22 at Wingham and District Hospi- ville; Murray and Jane McLennan, tal, 7 lbs., 5 oz. There are eight grandchildren. Born on the second of Grey Township, Stewart McLennan was raised on his father's farm on the first concession of Morris. He re- S.S. Mr. McLennan moved to his own farm on the first of Morris and remained there until moving to Teeswater in 1966. He went to work at the Teeswater Creamery in 1965 and had worked part-time since 1983. He was a member of the Teeswater United Church. Visitation was held at the McBurney Funeral Home in Wing - ham on Wednesday, July 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service was held in the funeral home on Thursday., July 27, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Bradley Morrison officiating. Interment in Moles- worth Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold John- son, Ross Goll, Bob Matters, Larry McLennan, Jeremy Schefter and Rob McLennan. Flower bearers NOWAY, AUGUST 2 Ng a social time of fellowship was held at Martins' Landing, the home of Alice and Howard Martin. A barbe- cue supper, sports activities, boat- ing and visiting preceded the camp- fire sing -along. Last Sunday, Rob Collier of Kin- cardine was the guest speaker and Joyce Farrell was the worship lead- er. The summer adventure program held its initial sessions last week for local children. The program continues for three more weeks. Christy Pardys and Teresa Farrell are in charge of the program this summer. Among those attending were Carmen and Brian Farrier of Toron- to, Wayne and Beth Farrier of Guelph, Janice Davis, Mark and Scott of Windsor, Agnes Farrier of Whitechurch and Joel and Carole Hauley and family of Pennsylvania. The Hauleys are moving to Haiti where they will teach and minister to the people there. Carole Hanley is the daughter of Carmen Farrier. Kim Farrier of Guelph attended also and spent a day or so with her grandmother, Agnes Farrier. As well, Scott Davis stayed for a few days. ROSS --Erma Jane Ross of Wing - ham passed away at Victoria Hos- pital, London, on Tuesday, July 25, 1995. She was in her 74th year. The former Erma Caslick, she was the beloved wife of Russell Ross. Left to mourn their mother's passing are Doris and Jim Taylor of RR 5, Wingham and Jim and Don- na Ross of Kitchener. Mrs. Ross was the grandmother of Trisha Wickhorst, Sherry Taylor and Mark and Cathy Ross. Also surviving is her sister, Aleta Conn and brothers. Wilford and William Caslick, all of Wingham. Mrs. Ross was predeceased by her sister, Elda Coultes, in 1992. Visitation was held at the McBurney Funeral Home in Wing- hhm on Thursday, July 27, from 3 to 4:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. A private funeral service was held in the fu- neral home on Friday. July 2b, with Rev. John P. Vaudry officiating. In- terment in Wingham Cemetery.
