BARRIE - Adam Skillen of Luck -
now competed in his first Ontario
men's amateur golf championship
at the National Pines Golf Club,
near here last week.
Although he was. unsuccessful
at making the 36 -hole cut of 154,
he was pleased with the way he
played.
Skillen shot a round of 82 on
the first day and improved to a 78
on day two to finish 16 holes of
play with a 160.
"If I had played, better on day
one, I think I could have made the
cut," he said.
He said that he played okayat
the tournament, but noted that the
top players usually play up to their
potential, and play better and do
well.
Skillen already has plans to
compete in further Ontario men's
amateur championships.
"Competing in tournaments like
this one, you always find things to
improve on," he said. "I picked' up
sdme ideas on what I have to get
better at to be more competitive."
Skillen said it was a fantastic
course, with large, fast greens. He
added that the course was fairly
difficult.
"This was the most fun I've had
•playing golf," he said. "We were
treated well."
He noted that the greens were
extremely quick, and many had
different tiers in them.
Skillen is already working on
ways to improve his game for next
year's tournament.
