Seniors Day
. 5
By Ronda Bennett
We were in a real "jam" last
Monday. Our topic for discussion
was jams, jellies and preserves. Af-
ter making homemade tea biscuits,
the staff and volunteers spread
peach and strawberry goodness.
Last Tuesday, we enjoyed the
outdoors in neighboring Cruick-
shank Park. In the afternoon, the
group worked on a variety of crafts
for our bazaar in November. Yes,
we're planning ahead.
Last Wednesday provided a
"Down ' Under" theme. Laurel
Campbell of Auburn was the guest
speaker on the topic of her six-
week stay in Australia. She de-
scribed the hamburgers there made
with beets, pineapple and fried egg
and also shared her experience of
petting koala bears and seeing kan-
garoos. Wednesday was a "Good
Ay, Mate".
On Thursday, July 13, our dis-
cussion was on humor as a medi-
cine. We read from Erma Bom-
beck's book Four of a Kind. Her
dry humor is reflected in stories
such as "Grass Is Always Greener
over the Septic Tank". There were
a lot of smiles and chuckles during
the morning.
Last Friday we cancelled the af-
ternoon program due to the humidi-
ty and high temperatures. Our
morning theme focussed on "your
dream vacation". A 'multitude of
souvenirs and postcards were
shared to reminisce about past holi-
days.
The seniors will be visiting the
Si Helens area tomorrow, July 20.
We're looking forward to having
lunch there.
