Knight golfs' terrible
fails to made cut
at provincial juniors
L' ISTOWEL - Adam Knight was
positive he could do well at the
Ontartio junior golf championships
held here last week.
But, after three -putting the first
green he lost his.concentration and
was unable to make the 36 -hole cut
of 156.
The 16 -year-old had a first day
score of 85 and then improved to
an 80 on the second day to finish
his first provincial championship
tournament with a 165.
"I just played terrible," he said.
Knight said the course was ex-
cellent, and the weather conditions
were ideal. He added that the
greens were fast:
He said that he hit the ball well
off the first tee, but ended up
playng too conservative which re-
sulted with him three -putting the
first green.
Knight said that he didn't get the
feel for long putts until the back
nine on day 2.
"I was one over par on the back
9, but I still three -putted on occa-
sions," said Knight.
He said that he was nervous
about playing in his first junior
championship, which resulted in
him missing short putts, on both
days he played.
Knight said he had hoped to do
better than he did. He added that
he felt he could play well enough
to win, but he just didn't have
enough tournament experience.
"I hope to do better next year,"
he said.
Knight said he has two more
years on the junior golf circuit. He
will be working on his short game.
"I know I can play as good a
anyone else," he said. "I will just
have to work on my putting
game."
