The truck was paid for by all member municipalities of the Wingham Area Board. Fire chief Harley Gaunt stands in front of the now tanker. Highest bid accepted Department unloads old tan/ier The Wingham Area Fire Board accepted the highest bid for the 1974 tanker. The board received a total of six tenders for the tanker. The board was selling the old tanker after pur- chasing a a new tanker earlier this year. The new tanker has been kept at the Wingham station since the be- ginning of the month. However, fire chief Harley° Gaunt said that the tanker has yet to go on its 'maiden voyage.' Prior to the opening of the sealed bids, Mery Baker of Turnberry 'i wnship suggested that the board Pitt a reserve bid on the tanker. Three of the six bids were over the $3,000 'floor' price. Ray Lewis of Turnberry Township had a bid of .$3,101 plus taxes; Wayne Stan- ley had a bid of $3,151; and Kevin Bath' of Delaware submitted the highest bid of $4,1 1 1. The lowest bid received was for $1,260. Paul Elgie of Turnberry Town- ship made a motion that the board **accept the highest bid. The board carried the motion and accepted the bid from Bath. Chief Gaunt told the board that emergency light bar, the radio and other equipment will be removed from the tanker. He added that the people bidding on the tanker were all informed as to what was coming off the tanker and exactly what they were bidding on. He Morris Township briefs McCrae Cemetery Morris Township assumed the ownership of the McCrae Cemetery' at last Tuesday's meeting of Morris Township council. Rev. Vicars Hodge attended the council meeting to find out if the township would assume ownership of the cemetery located at Lot 2 of 'Concession 5. Rev. Hodge said the request was made because the An- glican Church in Belgrave had closed. ' Even though the congregation of the church were in favor of the township assuming ownership of the cemetery, final approval would have to be received from the Diocese. Hire grass cutter Morris Township will employ Dave Goodland of RR 4 Brussels to cut the grass along the roadsides of Township roads. He will be working about 25 hours per week. Road naming committee Members of Morris Township council along with road superintendent Lloyd Michie were appointed to the road naming committee for Morris Township.. The committee will come up with names of roads in the township for the implementation of enhanced 9-1-1 in Huron County. The committee will also work with other municipality's road naming committes for the naming of roads that extend the length or the width of the county. Recreation accounts Morris Township paid out $4,700 in recreation grants for 1995. The Belgrave Community Centre Board received its, 1995 levy of $2,000, and the township also provided $1,500 for paving the arena drive way. The Walton Women's Institute will receive a grant of $100, the Wal- ton Area Sports Club will receive $500, Bluevale,recrea ton will receive $500, and the Blyth Festival will receive a $100 grant f r 1995. John Duskocy of Morris Town- ship wondered why only the light bar being put on the truck. Chief Gaunt said the fire fighters wou'.d put .the emergency light bar on the pick-up truck. The board recommended that the fire chief get three quotes on the cost of getting lettering on the door of the pick-up truck.
