ARBUCKLE--Elmer David Ar-
buCkle of Wingham passed away
tin 'Sunday, June 4, 1995, at Bray
Lodge in Wingham just days before
his 83rd birthday. His death fol-
lowed a short illness.
A son of the late William and
Margaret (Robertson) Arbuckle, El-
mer was born June 9, 1912, in East
Wawanosh Township. He received
his education at S. S. No. 9, Cur-
rie's School and farmed all his life
on the family farm in East Waw'va-
nosh until retiring to Wingham in
1979.
He was the dear brother of Dan
and Doreen Arbuckle of Ottawa;
Jessie and Harold Kerr, Gertrude
Reavie and Edythe Coultes, all of
Wingham. He also is survived by
his sister-in-law, Isobel Arbuckle
of Wingham and several nieces and
nephews.
He was predeceased by his
brother Bob in 1992.
Visitation was held at the
McBurney Funeral Home in Wing -
ham on Monday evening from 7 to
9 p.m.. A private family service
was held at the funeral home on
Tuesday, June 6, with Rev. J. Rea
Grant officiating. Interment in
Wingham Cemetery.
NESBITT--Eileen Elizabeth Nes-
bitt of Ripley passed away- at Kin-
cardine Hospital on Monday, May
22, 1995, at the age of 91.
Born in Huron Township on Jan.
29, 1904, she was a daughter of
John Shiells and his wife, the for-
mer Margaret Yemen.
She was predeceased by her hus-
band, James Nesbitt, in 1976, one
brother and one sister.
Left to mourn her passing are her
niece, Flora Beaton and her hus-
band George of Wingham; one
nephew, Bob and his wife Kay
13rotchie of Georgetown; a great-
nephew and his wife, Allen and
Marilyn Robb of Wingham and
great -great nieces, Lori and Jenny
Robb, Wingham.
Funeral services were conducted
at the MacKenzie & McCreath Fu-
neral Home, Ripley, on Wednes-
day, May 24, 1995, at 2 p.m. Rev.
V. Wilkie of the Ripley United
Church officiated at the service.
Pallbearers were .Bob Courtney,
Bob Campbell, Lester Ferguson,
Dennis Courtney, J. S. Robb and
Chester Emmerton.
FORCE --Grace Elizabeth Force
passed away at Braemar Retirement
Centre on Friday, June 2, 1995.
The former Grace Elizabeth
Brown, she was in her 87th year.
Mrs. Force was the beloved wife
of the late Eugene Henry Force,
who predeceased her in 1989. She
was the dear mother of Shirley and
Thomas Adams, RR 3, Wingham;
Millicent and Bob Stuart, Bluevale;
Richard and Laura Force of New-
market and Stephen Force and his
friend Crystal of London. Also sur-
viving is one sister, Hannah Brice
of Fort Erie; 11 grandchildren and
17 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Force was predeceased by
her son David in 1932, two broth-
ers and one sister.
There was no funeral home visi-
tation and cremation has occurred.
There will be a private committal
service at a later date. Funeral ar-
rangements have been entrusted to
the McBurney Funeral Home,
Wingham.

HYNDMAN--Harold John Hynd-
man' of Gorrie. passed away on Fri-
day, May 26, 1995, at the old Vic-
toria Hospital, London, in his 76th
year.
Mr. Hyndman was the beloved.
husband of the former Dorothy Dil-
worth and loving father of Gwen
and her husband, Dr. Alex Strong
of Wingham, Jim and Susan Hynd-
man of Guelph and Gerry and Lyn-
' da Hyndman of Guelph. •
Also surviving are seven grand-
children and three great-
grandchildren. He was predeceased
by one grandson, Douglas Hynd-
man. Mr. Hyndman was the dear
brother of Allan Hyndman and Gre-
ta Bennett, both. -of Gorrie.
The late Harold Hyndman rested
at the Betts Visitation Centre, Gor-
rie, on Sunday, May 28, from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service
was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday,
May 29, by Rev. Jeff Hawkins. In-
terment in Gorrie Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ralph Lee, Ben
Johnston, Bill Doig, Clayt Ruppell,
Cliff Pyke and Raymond Gowdy.
In remembrance, donations to
the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foun-
dation or the Canadian Diabetic As-
sociation would be appreciated.
MARTIN --Lucy Marie (Spielmak-
er) Martin, formerly of Wingham,
passed away at Guelph General
Hospital on Tuesday, May 30,
1995, in her 68th year.
The beloved wife of Howard J.
Martin, she was the dear mother of
Carl Martin and his wife Ida of
Wingham, Shirley and her husband,
Garry Double, Laurie and• Sharon
Cripps, all of Guelph.
She also is survived by her sis-
ters, Mrs. Norman (Vera) Kieswet-
ter of Mildmay and Mrs. William
(Rosina) Martin of Kitchener. Mrs.
Martin was predeceased by her sis-
ter, Caroline Schefter and a brother,
Clayton Spielmaker
There are sixrandchildren sur-
viving: Thomas Laura, Danny,
Sherry -Lynn, Steven and Stepha-
nie.
The late Lucy Martin rested at
the Gilbert & Son Funeral Home,
252 Dublin Street North in Guelph.
The funeral mass was conducted
the morning of Thursday, June 1, at
9:30 at St. Joseph's Church. Cre-
txiation followed with interment of
Cremated remains in Marymount
Cemetery, Guelph.
As expressions of sympathy, do-
nations to Hospice Wellington or
the Canadian Cancer Society would
be appreciated by the family.
Maitland
Women's
Institute
meeting
The Maitland Women's Institute,
Wingham, met last Tuesday eve-
ning in the town hall. The presi-
dent, Ethel Adams, opened the
,neeting with the Mary Stewart
Collect and the Opening Ode.
The regular meeting was on agri
culture and Canadian industry. The
business was dealt with and corre-
spondence read. Members dis-
cussed 'and planned to attend the
quilt show and' turkey barbecue on
June 14 at the Milton Agricultural
Museum. ',.The group also is going
to Brickman's Nursery on June 27,.
The Maitland Institute will par-
ticipate in the Teeswater Fall Fair
Competition in August.
Mrs. Adams then introduced
Paul Wittendorf of the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority,
Wroxeter, who showed slides of the
Wingham River Flats Ecological
Park and some of the work they
have done to fix it' up for the pub-
lic.
Doris Walker thanked him and
gave him 'a gift.' Grace was sung
and then all enjoyed opening their
Secret Sister gifts during lunch.
New Secret Sisters were chosen for
1995-96. All enjoyed a social ti
and a delicious lunch.
Colleen. Van der Jagt, Adam,
Abby and Alex of Port Carling,
spent the weekend with Betty Irwin
recently.
John, Linda, Jeremy and Justin
Campbell visited last weekend at
Grand Bend with Nelson, Susan
and Laura Desjardine. of Grand
Bend, Garry, Simon, Jason and
Lynne Desjardine of Grand Bend
and Bob and Heather Maass of
London.
Elva Jacques and Mrs. Alvin
Mundell of Gorrie visited last Tues-
day afternoon with their cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse.
"Mabel's Moms" met at- the
home of Mabel Wheeler last
Wednesday, May 31. Those attend-

sissauga, spent the weekend at their
home here.
Mrs. James Dunbar has been for-
tunate in selling her property to an
Auburn couple. We will miss Reta
in our community.
George and Isobel Hislop mo-
tored to •Rosetown to attend their
cousin's wedding.
Celebrating 80 years
GORRIE--Guests from far and near
came to help celebrate the 80th
birthday of Elva Jacques. A "Come
and Go Tea" was held in the Gorrie
United Church on Sunday, May 28,
from 2 to 4 p.m. to mark the occa-
sion.
Approximately 1.50 were in at-
tendance from Orillia, Barrie, To-
ronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines,
Woodstock, London, St. Thomas,
Kitchener, Goderich, Kincardine
and the local vicinity.
An additional 90 family mem-
bers sat down to a smorgasbord
supper which was enjoyed by all. A -
short program followed with some
courtesy remarks bringing to a
close a very memorable day.

Neil and Julie Graham of Sudbury.
While there they attended the 30th
annual commencement of Lasalle
Secondary School. on Thursday
evening at which Patrick Graham
was valedictorian. He was awarded
the top jazz pianist award in his cat-
egory in Canada and also the top
musical student at Lasalle. Enroute
home Saturday they visited Cathe-
rine Melton of Guthrie.
Lew and Nancy Taylor of Kitch-
ener spent the weekend with Elva
Jacques.

Harold Hyndman, whose funeral
was last Monday.

Faith Cooke has returned home
after spending several days with
Nadine and Al Steedman of Missis-
sauga. While there they all attended
the convocation at Queen's Univer-
sity in Kingston on Saturday, May
27. Their son, Mark Steedman, re-
ceived degrees in engineering and
biology. He has accepted a position
with Schaeffer Associates.
