13) students placed first among 22
high schools in Zone 78 (Huron,
Perth' Bruce and Grey Counties) in
the prestigious Descartes Mathe-
matics Competition. The contest is
sponsored by the University of
Waterloo and National Trust.
The top three scores are com-

Madill was first with 151 points.
St Marys was second with 145
points, and Listowel and Saugeen
District High School of Port Elgin
were third with 144 points each.
All the .contests are sent to the
University of Waterloo, and spe-
cial marking teams are set up to
evaluate over 6,000 contestants
from across Canada and the US.
