The, WhogilaIll Mora Wings

rich Canadian Tire in minor soccer
league play at the F:E. Madill soc-
cer pitch or! TtlursdaY.
Goalkeeper Bill Schaefer made
two big saves early in the first half
to keep the game scoreless.
Playing out for the Wings were
Fraser Kuyvenhoven, Eric Camm,
Matt Rozendal, Jeff Maronets, Ta-
batha Lindsay, Jane Doig, Brittany
Campbell, Pete Mellor, Alicia
Bakelaar, Ashley Kahn, Brent
Martin, Brennan Chaulk, John
Haines, and Mary Beth Brown.
The Wings got on the board
fust with Chaulk scoring with help
from Campbell.
In the second half, Camm
scored, with help from Chaulk, to
give Wingham a 2-0 lead. Camp-
bell gave the Wings a 3-0 advan-
tage in the second half with Bake-
laar earning the assist.
Schaefer carne up with some
good saves to preserve the shut
Out.
In a game played last Wednes-
day, the Wingham Blue Jayes
edged past the Wingham Red
Dogs 3-2.
Adam O'Neil scored a pair of
goals for the Red Dogs with Xavi-
er O'Krafka adding a single.
Jared Maclntyre and Jason
MacKay scored one goal apiece
for the Red Dogs.
In minor soccer league play last
Tuesday, the Wingham Hounds
shut out the Wingham Strikers 2-
0.
Joel Riley booted both markers
for the Hounds.
Sharing the goaltending chores
for the Strikers were Mark Chippa,
Adam Skinn, Tommy Pettigrew,
and Laurita McGrail.
Optimist track club
sets five new records
The Wingham Optimist Track
and Field Club established five
new records at the 1 lth annual
Fast Times Classic standards meet
held May 13 in Port Elgin.
In establishing the five meet
records, the Optimist track club
members claimed 10 first place
finishes, 10 second place finishes
and four third place finishers.
The athletes from the Wingham
club reached 15 gold standards, 24
silver standards and 18 bronze
standards. A total of 25 Optimist
Club athletes competed in 81
events.
Sandy Lougheed established
two new records in the tyke boys
division, and Audrae Dickson set
o'o new marks. in the bantam girls
division. The tyke girls relay team
of Cindy Willits, Jaden Dickson,
Julie Nolan, and Crystal Bailey
also set a meet record.
The following are the complete
results of the Wingham Optimist
Track and Field Club.
Mite Girls
Ashton Chamney was first in
the softball throw; with a silver

Sfie was third in the long jump
with a gold standard distance o'f'
2.55 metres. She had a silver stan-
dard in the 100 metres with a time
of 19.92 'seconds.
Heather Lougheed was runner-
up in the softball throw with a
bronze distance of 11.45 metres,
and had a bronze standard in the
long jump with a leap of 1.85 me-
tres. She was runner-up in the 200
metre with a time of 42.2 seconds
and ran the 400 metres in 1:42.5
minutes.
Lydia Matthews had a silver
standard in the 100 metres with a
time of 19.84 seconds and in the
long jump with a leap of 2.18 me-
tres. She was sixth in the softball
throw with a bronze standard mark
of 10.60 metres.
Melanie Willits was fifth in the
softball throw with a bronze stan-
dard mark of 10.90 metres. She
had bronze standards in the long
jump with a leap of 1.89 metres
and in the 100 metres with a time
of 20.19 seconds.
The sprint relay team of Cham-
ney, Matthews, Willits, and Lou-
gheed were second with a silver
standard time of 1:23.8 minutes.
Mite Boys
Hamish Black was second in
the 100 metres with a silver stan-
dard time of 18.51 seconds, and
was second in the 200 metres with
a silver standard time of 39.5 sec-
onds. He was second in the 400
metres in a silver standard time of
1:33.4 minutes, and second in the
long jump with a gold medal stan-
