had two hits apiece for Belgrave
with Todd Machan and Ken Hogg
adding a single each.
S. Knight was 3 -for -3 at the
plate for the Brewers with S. Rob-
inson getting three hits in four at -
bats. Rick McDonald clubbed a
home run in three trips to the
plate.
The Juveniles travel to Seaforth-
tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game
against the Co-ops. Belgrave tray
els to Blyth on Monday for a 8:30
p.m. contest against the Decorat-
ing squad.

Midgets
win two
The Belgrave Midgets opened
the WOAA season with a pair of
victories. On May 15, the Midgets
scored a 19-3 decision over Mild-
may and then downed Cargill 7-1
in their home opener last Wednes-
day.
Brent Robinson hurled a two
hitter last Wednesday as Belgrave
scored its second win of the young
season. He also gave up one walk
while striking out 12.
The Midgets put four runners
across the plate in the first inning
and added single runs in the sec-
ond, fourth and sixth innings. Car-
gill scored their lone run in the
fifth inning as they capitalized on
the only walk issued by Robinson.
Catcher Shawn Fair had a triple
and two singles in four at -bats.
First base player Dan Gusso and
Robinson were each 2 -for -3 at the
plate with 'short stop Joel Pegg
getting a single in one official
plate appearance. He also received
three walks. Third base player
Chris Stewart was 1 -for -4 at the
plate.
The Midgets clubbed out 17 hits
in Mildmay last Monday as they
opened the 1995 season on the
road. Robinson and Stewart con-
tributed homeruns to the lopsided
decision.
Mildmay scored once in the
first, but Belgrave blew the game
wide open with five runs in the
second and nine more in the third
to cruise to the win. Mildmay
scored their other two runs in sixth
on two singles and three errors.
Pegg went the distance on the
mound for Belgrave, allowing
eight hits and one walk while fan-
ning nine.
Centre fielder Brian Marks was
3 -for -3 at the plate with Stewart
getting three hits, including a
home run, in four at -bats. Fair and
Robinson were each 3 -for -5 at the
plate and left fielder Ryan Moffatt
had two hits in four plate appear-
ances.
The Midgets were in Delmore
last night and then play host to
Desboro on May 31, beginning at
9 p.m.

LONDON - Mike Nolan captured
the midget boys individual cham-
pionship at the WOSSA track and
field championships held last
week at the University of Western
Ontario.
The midget boys were first in
the team standings and the senior
girls also captured the team title.
Madill was second overall in the
boys standings and in the girls
standings.
On the way to capturing five
gold medals, 12 silver medals and
four bronze 'medals, the athletes
set eight new school records.
Setting the school records were
David Greig in the junior boys 400
metre, Mary Lisle in the junior
girls shot put, Julie Lisle in the
senior girls 100 -metre hurdles,
Ibby Omole in the senior girls 200
metre, Heather Askes in the senior
girls triple jump, Shawn Gedcke in
the senior boys 800 metre, Dave
McDonald in the senior boys dis-
cus, and the senior boys four -by -
100 metre relay.
Twenty-two Madill athletes
have advanced to the OFSAA
western regional track and field
championship being held this
weekend in Tillsonburg, to com-
pete in 36 events.

Colts down Palmerston
Wingham Colts scored a 12.5
decision over the Palmerston Mid-
gets last 'Thursday, after losing 8.1
to the Clifford 4 Aces last Tues-
day.
The Colts have a two -win one -
loss record after three games in the
Bluewater Fastball League, The
Colts were in Southampton on
Monday to play the Lakeshore
Heat,
The long ball was the deciding
factor for the Colts in Palmerston
on Thursday as four home runs
brought -in six runs. Pitcher Tom
McDonald brought in the first run
for the Colts with a home run in
the first inning. Designated hitter
Kyle Wheeler also clubbed a solo
home run in the fust inning.
Second base player Andrew
Gibson blasted a two -run homer in
the third inning, and first 'base
player Corey McKee clubbed a
two -run round tripper in the sev-
enth inning.
McDonald started on the mound
for the Colts and lasted 5 1/3 in-
nings before being relieved by Bill
Haines. They allowed nine hits
and three walks and combined for
four strikeouts.
Joel Martin started for the Mid-
gets and went four innings before
being relieved by Chip Sampson.
They gave up. 13 hits and three
walks and had five strike outs.
McDonald and Gibsop were
each 3 -for -4 at the plate for Wing -
ham with Wheeler getting two hits
in three at -bats.
Aaron Small was 2 -for -2 at the
plate for Palmerston with Chris
Harrow getting two hits in four at -
bats, and Martin getting one hit in
three plate appearances.
In Clifford last Tuesday, Brent
Reading started for the 4 Aces and
lasted one inning before Reg
Walls took over. They allowed
nine hits and two walks and had
four strike outs,
Jason Daw started for the Colts
and went 1 2/3 innings before be-
ing relieved by Haines. They gave
up nine hits and three walks and
three walks and combined for
eight strike outs.
Left fielder McDonald was 2 -
for -4 at the plate for the Colts with
catcher Ben Blackwell getting one
hit in two at -bats, and McKee get-
ting one hit in three plate appear-
ances.
Wes Hope was 2 -for -2 for Clif-
ford with Reading getting three
hits in four at -bats, and Don Leslie
getting a pair of hits in four plate
appearances.
Squirts ' win opener
The Wingham Legion Squirts
opened their 1995 Tri -County
Softball League season last Thurs-
day with a come from behind 10-6
decision over Gorrie.
Wingham scored three runs in
the third, two in the fourth, and
three -more in the fifth to erase a 6-
2 deficit.
Barry Skinn led the offensive
attack with a double and triple to
drive in four runs. Zack O'Krafka
and Derek Marks had two hits and
a walk each and also scored three''
runs apiece.
Collecting single hits for Wing -
ham were Adam Ryan, Patrick
Rozebndal, Garrett Skinn, Chris
Watts, and Nathan MacTavish.
Chad Skinn and Tim Barfoot each
received two free passes to fust
O'Krafka picked up the decision
on the mound, allowing six runs
on six hits and struck out seven
