The Wingham Advance Times, 1995-05-17, Page 7• it v, wr.+om or Continued from pa$e six, in. London. Dennis Lubbers claimed triple gold — winnning .tile midget boys 800 metre, 1,500 metre, and 3,000 metre. In the jumping events, coached by former MadillOFSAA medal - Sharon Askes, 20 athletes gained points for the team. Kris Kreiger was able to win double gold in the senior, boys high jump atld long jump, and madill athletes swept first place in five of the six jumping divisions. The sprinters, coached by Steve Memer, also tasted success. One of the most exciting races of the day, for Madill fans, was the mid- get boys 100 metre final when Mustangs Cory Bragg, Greg Montgomery and Matt Smith fin- ished one -two -three. The trio then joined up with Mike Nolan to run the 4 -by -100 metre relay and set a new Huron -Perth record. Nolan also ran a smooth 300 -metre hur- dles race to shatter the existing H- P record. Andy Shaw sprinted his way to a meet record in the ambu- latory 100 metre race with a per- sonal best time of 13.5 seconds. In throws, a traditionally strong area coached by Betty Shaw and Maureen Lisle, there were 13 first place finishers and two new Hu- ron -Perth records set by sisters Mary and Julie Lisle in junior and senior girls shot put events. The Madill track and field team wrote a new chapter in Madill his- tory by making a sweep of all divi- sions, bringing home pennants for midget, junior, and senior boys, midget, junior, and senior girls, overall boys, overall girls, and overall boys and girls. Never be - _lore, ,have all divisions been won by one school. At the end of the day, individual champions were named for each division. These athletes must win three first places in order to win the tide. This year, Madill had eight individual champions. The midget boys champions were Lub- bers with wins in the 800 -mete, 1,500 -metre and the 3,000 metres; Bragg in the long jump, 100 me- tre, and 200 metres; and Nolan in the 300 -metre hurdles, shot put and discus.
