Due to the pending retirement of the incumbent, the County of Duron
invites applications for the position of Treasurer.
As a member of the senior management team, reporting to the
Clerk -Administrator and the Administration, Finance and Personnel
Committee, you will provide fiscal and financial advice to staff and County
Council, utilizing your thorough, current knowledge of legislation and
accounting principles to ensure effective performance of all Treasury
functions as defined in the Municipal Act.'
The successful candidate will provide leadership and foster staff
development, while overseeing the accounting, budget and treasury
functions. Specific functions include co-ordinating the general budget and
audit processes, providing financial management information on a
regular and timely basis to all departments through the development of
appropriate financial and management information systems, and
managing govemment reporting.
A combination of technical knowledge and administrative skills will be
utilized in the development and implementation of procedures, systems
and policies`lt?safeguard the assets of the County.
The ideal candidate will have a university degree and professional
accounting designation, combined with a minimum of 5 years of
management experience, preferably in a municipal environment. A
knowledge of prevalent computerized accounting systems and experience
in implementing a management information system, as well as excellent
interpersonal skills are necessary to join this senior management team.
MANAGER OF FINANCIAL SERVICES
This will be a temporary position (18 months). in the Treasurer's
department to provide assistance during the transition period, as the
financial and management information systems are developed and
implemented. Reporting to the Treasurer, duties and responsibilities
include assisting all departments with the preparation and analysis of
budgets and financial statements; assisting with the development of
financial and management information systems in a computerized
environment; and assisting with financial reporting as required.
Qualified candidates will have a professional accounting designation,
experience using computerized financial and management information
systems, and excellent interperSonat skills.
