held its annual mission bazaar last Wednesday afternoon. Pro-

Tyler Huffman were kept busy whipping up candy floss for
those attending the bazaar.
TORONTO - Ontario farmers will
no longer have to pay premiums up
front under the Market Revenue In-
surance program, Ontario Minister
of Agriculture, Food and Rural Af-
fairs Elmer Buchanan announced.
today.
Under the new system, which
will become effective for the 1995-
96 crop year for all market revenue
commodities, producers will not be
required to pay premiums by No-
vember 1 each year. Instead, one-
third of the payments made to pro-
ducers under the program will be
deducted to cover their share of the
premiums.
"Since the inception of market
Revenue in 1991, almost 85 per
cent of the eligible acres in the
province have been enrolled in the
program: Over the first three corn-
pleted years, Market -Revenue paid
$478 million to Ontario grain and
oilseed producers to help them deal
with depressed commodity prices,"
said Buchanan. •
"The new system will build on
the effectiveness of the program for

Township accepts by-law
amendment for sawmill
East Wawanosh Township ac-
cepted a zoning by-law amend-
ment application for Part Lot 28,
Concession 6 at its March meeting
last Tuesday.
The by-law amendment would
change the propertry from AG -1,
NE -1 and NE -3 to AG -3 for the
purpose of constructing a sawmill.
Peter Parent of Tri -County
Lumber presented the re -zoning
application to council last Tues-
day. He also applied for a building
permit.
Even though the property is
zoned. agricultural, the land is ac-
tually scrubland. There is no
building on the land.
Parent said there is a spring on
the property and he would be us-
ing portable toilets for the employ-
ees.
He noted that the company
couldn't start building 'until he
finds out what hydro is available.
Parent said there is no three-phase
outlets on the property, and Onta-
rio Hydro is not willing to com-
promise.
Because Parent is unsure of
what hydro will be available, he
brought two plans for council's ap-
proval. One drawing is for an all
electric power supply and the oth-
er is for diesel and electric power.
The building will be a one -
height of 20 feet. The structure
will be built on a foundation of
eight -inch think, on a floating pad. •
If required, he could down -size the
operation.
Parent said there is a home
across the road, but other than that
the closest neighbor is about 2 -km
away, which is the park. He didn't
think there would be much noise,
because all the noise from work
would be out the back -side of the
mill.
He noted that the odd truck
turning into the mill may be heard.
Parent noted that they will put up
a sign warningother road users
that trucks are turning.
"We have worked with every-
`er to date," said Parent "We are
trying to do this right."
Parent said he would like to
start building the sawmill later this
month, as soon as the weather gets
better.
Council informed him that it
would take two months to corn-
plete the zoning procedure. The
plans for the building would have
to -be approved by a licensed engi-
neer.
"Two months for us would be a
lot of time and money," said Par-
ent.
At the present 'time, people are

style building will be built with truck drivers to haul the trees to
pre-engineered trusses with a the mill.
Counc
could not see any problesms in Tri
County Lumber starting to build
the sawmill later this month.
He.made a motion for council to
accept the application for re-
zoning, subject to approval of the
zoning by-law. However, Trl
County Lumber will have to get
approval from the Huron County
Health Unit for the use of portta-
ble toilets and the Department of
Labor.
Parent said they have already
received approval from Huron
County and the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority.
Council also accepted an appli-
cation from Roy Hardy for part
Lot 28, Concession 8 to change
the property from AG -1 to AG -4
to allow for a mobile home.
Building superintendent Arnold
Bruce said the owner would like to
have the trailer in by April 1. The
owner has applited for to get a
septic system.
Bruce noted with the zoning by-
law amendment, a house could be
built on the property at a later
date.
Also accepted by council was a
temporary land -use application for
Joe Groh. The temporary land -use
permit would allow Groh Motors
to sell one or two cars 'from the
,sense from an administrative point
of view. Farmers have asked for
this new approach and I'm pleased
that we can now offer them this
simplified process," he added.
The Market Revenue Insurance
Program provides enrolled farmers"
with protection against low market
pt'ices for their commodities. The/.
premiums are funded 41.66 per
cent by the federal government, 25
per cent by the provincial govern-
ment. The' producers' share of the
premiums wilt be the deduction of
one-third of the program pay -outs.
