I can re- late to both the student's view and the teacher's view. My name is Kelly Stevenson, and I am the daughter of Sue Ste- venson of Lucknow and Doug Ste- venson of Goderich. I am 17 years old and am currently enrolled in Grade 12 at F.E. Madill Secondary School. My Co-op placement is at the Wingham Public School with the Grade 4/5 class and my super- visor is Mrs. Mathews, During my experience at Wing - ham Public School, I have ob- served many duties. 1 have marked spelling, math, grammar, and French work, as well as dictated a weekly spelling test to both grades. So far I have done most of my work with the grade 4's, such as working with them on their math, spelling, and grammar exercises. My other duties are answering questions the students may have about their work, and I also do photocopying and odd jobs around the classroom for Mrs. Mathews. I have been lucky enough to have the experience of going on a field trip to the Wawanosh Nature Centre with the grade 4/5 class and the other grade 5 class. 1 really en- joyed it and • the group was very well behaved and co-operative. I've also had the opportunity to sit in on a couple of class meetings that they have every Friday before lunch to discuss any good things that happened during the week or things they could possible improve as a group. I am really enjoying my Co-op experience, and I would like to thank my supervisor Mrs. Mathews and the Grade- 4/5 class for being such a great bunch of kids. Lorie Morrison...classic Interiors Hi, I'm Lorie Morrison , and am 17 years old. I am currently en- rolled in grade 12. This year I was given the opportunity to take a course called • Co-op. This pro- gram gives students an opportunity to go out in the work world and ex- perience "hands-on" in a job they are most interested in. I have Co-op every other day in the morning. I start at 8:30 and go till 12;00. I was interested in inter- ior design for my Co-op place- ment. I work for Patti Robertson at Classic Interiors in Wingham. She has shown me many different techniques in the world of design. In the hours 1 spend with Patti I sometimes paint, file ' clients records, phone in orders unpack parcels or go to a clients house and assist Patti. Some of the bigger jobs I have done are, helping Patti set up a window display, and help- ing her hang curtains in a clients home. So far my placement at Classic Interiors has been both fun and ed- ucational. Patti is a great person to work with. She definitely knows what she is doing in 'interior de- sign. She has taught me so much! This program is a great course to take, and I would encourage every student to experience the Co-op program. kef 'GtMeb':6d...N4`dis9 Pamela Murphyaa.wps My name is Pamela Murphy. I am the daughter of Dianne and Con Murphy of Wingham. I am a gradc twelve student at F.E. Madill Secondary School. I am currently enrolled in the Co-operative Edu- cation Program at school. My placement is at the Wing - ham Public School, in the kinder- garten class and my supervisor is Mrs. Schedler. Since I've been working at the Public School I have performed various tasks, such as show and tell, activity time, reading books to the children, help- ing them learn how to write their names, taking them to the library to pick out a book and taking them to the gym to play, supervising the children while they play outside.• and helping there -.with anything they need most often it is helping them tic up their shoes). I really enjoy working with Mrs. Schedler and with the children. 1 feel that 1 am learning a lot , from working at the Wingham Public School. I would really encourage other students to get involved in the Co. -operative Education Pro- gram because it gives you "hands- on" experience at a work place that you can not receive in a classroom.' Dixie Embling...Wingharrl Nursery School Hi, my name is Dixie Embling and I live in Wingham. I have the opportunity of working at the Wingham Nursery School through my Co-operative Education 'Pro- gram provided to us at F.E. Madill Secondary School for any Grade 12 students. When I was accepted at the Nur- sery School 1 thought that it was basically like the Day Care Centre, but it is more like a Pre -School. The childrenlearn their numbers, the day's of the week, and the , months of the year. Every week there is a different theme. For ex- ample a theme like Safety intro- duces the children to safety rules, and they would learn what the signs mean. For instance what the walk and don't walk signs look like and what sign to look for if they are in trouble. Another thing that I have no- ticed is that the 'students aren't giv- en orders. If they are running or yelling. inside then the teacher says to them "Use your walking feet, please," or "Use your inside voice." I am glad that I am taking this course because it is helping me to make decisions involving . my, ca- reer. I would encourage anyone who is in the Grade 12 program to consider this course because it is good experience, and it may help • in your decisions for your future. Sandra Murphy...wps My name is Sandra Murphy. I am the daughter of Dianne and Con Murphy of Wingham. I am a grade twelve student at F.E. Madill Secondary School, where I am cur- rently enrolled in the Co-operative Education Program. My Co-op placement is in the grade one class- room at Wingharn Public School and my supervisor is Mrs. Over- holt. ' So far at Wingham Public I have performed many duties, such as helping prepare lessons, supervis- ing the students, marking work, photocopying and encouraging po- lite and considerate behavior. Soon I will be teaching' some les- sons to the class by myself. The first one will be a gym class. I feel 1 am learning a lot at Co- op and I'm getting a lot of hands on experience. Since 1 plan on be- ing a grade one teacher this is an excellent opportunity for me to ex- perience the job as it will be. and help me to reinforce my desire to be a grade one teacher. Brenda Gugg•..Day Care Centre Can you put this puzzle togeth- er? Can you help me put this dress on? I want to paint, 1 need help,' can I please have a push?....You can expect to hear some of these questions/statements when you work at the Day Care Centre. My Co-op experience has given me a wide variety of different kids. Hi, my name is Brenda Gugg, and I am currently enrolled in Grade 12 at F.E. Madill Secondary School. My Co-op placement is at the Wingham Day Care Centre and my head supervisor is Mrs. Lane. I have performed a variety of differ- . ent tasks as well as observed other tasks.
