The Wingham Optimist Atoms
scored a 3-2 decision over Mitch-
ell on Sunday to even their
OMHA Atom 'CC' series at one
game apiece.
Mitchell won the first game of
the series, 2-1, in a game played
last Thursday in Mitchell.
The Atoms opened the scdting

Lesley Burton of Wingham
swam to a pair of gold medals at
the Guelph Marlin two-day invita-
tional regional meet held at the
University of Guelph pool on the
weekend.
She was one of three Wingham
swimmers, representing the Huron
Hurricanes Aquatic Club, compet-
ing in the meet. Also swimming in
the competition were Kevin Schill
and Karen Schill,,
Burton earned a gold medal in
the 11 -12 -year-old girls 200 metre
butterfly and the 100metre butter-
fly. She won the silver in the 200.
metre freestyle, the 200 metre in-
dividual medley, and the 100 me-
tre backstroke. She was fourth in
the 100 metres freestyle.
Kevin Sehill won the bronze in
the 13 -14 -year-old boys 200 metre
butterfly, and the 100 metre back-
stroke. He was fourth in the 100
metre breaststroke, fifth in the 100
metre butterfly; sixth in the 100
metre freestyle, seventh in the 50
metre free and eighth in the 200
metre breaststroke.
Karen Schill was seventh in the
.01s open 200 metre freestyle.
The Hurricanes are in Niagara
Falls on March 12 and travel to
Sarnia for another regional meet
on March 25-26.

The Madill junior girls volley-
ball team reached the semi-finals
of the Huron -Perth championships
held Thursday at Stratford Central.
In the junior Mustangs opening
match of the round-robin, they de-
feated Stratford St. Michael's 15-
11 and. 15-13. The second match
was against county rival South
Huron Panthers of Exeter. The
. Mustangs won the first game 15-8,
but dropped the second game 8-
15.
Coach Nancy Stafford noted
that the Mustangs should have
won both games of the match.
In the final match of the round-
robin, the Mustangs went up
against Stratford. Central. , Madill
• dropped the fust game 2-15, but
came back to win the second con-
test 15-12.
The Mustangs earned second
place in their pool with four
points, to advance to she semi-
finals against Goderich Vikings:
Goderich won both games 15-12,
and 15-7 over the Mustangs to
reach the finals against Stratford
Central.
Madill coach Stafford said
Stratford Central won the Huron -
Perth championship. She added
that the Mustangs were the only
team to post a victory against the
Stratford high school.
The senior Mustangs did not
qualify for the Huron -Perth cham-
pionship tournament.
