an excellent turn -out on Friday,
Feb. 17, to discuss future plans for
the group..

Ontario Parent Council and the
proposed changes recently
announced by the Royal
Commission on Education. A
parent advisory group will be
mandatory by Sept. 1995. Ideas to
involve junior and senior students
were discussed.
Plans have been made for a

8. A survey concerning a second
trip to the Talisman ski resort will
be sent home with senior grades.
Mr. Fischer ' presented
information on a sport-a-thon day,
which was supported by the group.

Lisle claims junior title
For the second consecutive
year, Mary Lisle of Wingham
claimed the junior secondary
school title in the Royal Canadian
Legion's public speaking competi-
tion.
The competitions for the junior
secondary school division, as well
as the junior and senior elemen-
tary school divisions were held
Saturday at the Legion Hall in
Wingham. The senior secondary
school competition was held Mon-
day evening.
Lisle was one of three speakers
in the junior secondary school di-
vision. Russell Hurst of Teeswater
was second and Paul Vaudry of
Wingham was third. All three
speakers attend F. E. Madill Sec-
ondary School in Wingham.
This marked the fourth straight
year that a Lisle has won the jun-
ior secondary school event. Prior
to Mary winning 'the competition
the past two years, Julie Lisle won
the event for two years.
The judges for the junior secon-
dary school division were John
Strong, Legion padre Rev. John
Nielson, and former principal at
Sacred Heart School in Teeswater,
George King.
First place honors in the senior
elementary school division was
won by Melina Hussey of East
Wawanosh Public School. Janet
Lisle of Wingham Public was run-
ner-up and Elizabeth Bruce of
Turnberry Central School was
third.
Also competing were B.J.
Bulmer of Hillcrest School in
Teeswater, Vanessa Reinhart of
Sacred Heart School in Teeswater,
and Jessica O'Connell of Sacred
Heart School in Wingham.
Bethany Burns of Sacred Heart
School in Teeswater earned first
place honors in the junior elemen-
tary school division. Katie Foxton
of Tumbcrry Central School was
runner-up and Muffy Kennedy of
Hillcrest School in Teeswater was
third.

lic speaking competition held at
East Wawanosh Public School
