Mustangs take adpantage
early lead against St. Marys
Madill Mustangs took a 4-2 first
period advantage Friday afternoon
as they f skated to a 6-4 decision
over St. Malys in Huron -Perth
High School tlockey League play
at the Lockritfge Memorial Arena.
The Mustfings held a 6-3 lead
after two periods of play. St.
Mary's contacted for the lone goal
of the final period.
The win was the second of the
season 1t4 the Mustangs, improv-
ing their league record to 2-4-1
with one game remaining. Madill
travelled to Clinton yesterday for a
game against the Central Huron
Rcdmcn.
St. Marys and Madill are bat-
tling for the final playoff spot.
With a one -point lead over St.
Marys. the Mustangs can afford a
tic against Central Huron, while
St. Mary's has to win its final
game of the regular season and
have Madill lose.
Scoring for the Mustangs in the
opening period were Jason McDo-
nald from Dave McDonald and
Mark Wilson, Ed Courtney from
Peter Gusso, Wilson from Jason
McDonald and Gusso, and Eric
Andrew from Randy Beuermann.
Tallying the Madill goals in the
middle stanza were Jason McDo-
nald from Gusso, and Ean Moffatt
unassisted.
Greg Bolton and Jamie Mathe-
son had one goal and one assist for
St. Mary's with Jeff Richardson
and Steve Chateauvert getting one
goal apiece.
Jamie Thomas posted the deci-
sion in the Madill goal.
Girls capture curling crown
The Madill foursome captured
Huron County girls high school
curling championship last Thurs-
day.
The rink of skip Lori Excl, third
Tanya Kleist, second Tenille
Cranston, lead Christa Ritchie and
alternate Lila Caesar edged past
Goderich 6-5 in the title game
played at the Clinton curling club.
The foursome now advances to
the Huron -Perth double knockout
bonspiel being played tomorrow in
Stratford.
Madill opened the county high
school bonspiel with a 12-2 deci-
sion over Central Huron of Clin-
ton.
Coach BiII Munro said thc Cen-
tral Huron rink was an inexperi-
enced foursome. He noted that last
year's Central Huron team cap-
tured the WOSSA title. This was a
rebuilding year for the Clinton

post four wins
The Madill junior girls volley-
ball team posted four victories in
lcagse play last Thursday after-
noon.
The Mustangs were competing
against the South Huron Panthers
of Exeter and the Central Huron
Redmen of Clinton.
The Mustangs went up against
South Huron first and managed a
single victory. The junior Mus-
tangs dropped the first first game
5-15, rebounded to win the second
contest 15-10, but fell in the third
game 4-15.
Against Central Huron, the
Mustangs were victorious in all
three games. Madill built up a 10-
0 lead in the. first game as they
went to claim a 15-10 decision.
The Mustangs won the second
game 15-5 and in the third game,
after jumping out to a 9-Q lead,
scored a 15-7 decision.
The junior Mustangs competed
in the South Huron toumament in
Exeter on Feb. 4 and reached the
consolation final before losing out
to the host team 'in two straight
games. Madill defeated Ridge -
town in the consolation semi-final.
The senior Mustangs were not
as fortunate as they managed a
pair of wins, both against Central
Huron.
Against South Huron, the senior
Mustangs droplicd all three games
by the identical score of 7-15.
Madill won the first game
against Central Huron 15-11,
dropped the second 4-15 and then
won the third contest 15-13.
The Mustangs were to play in
Goderich last Tuesday, but the
contests were postponed due to the
weather. Next league play for the
Mustangs is Thurrday at home.
Wescast Pee Wees
drop Lucknow 5-3
Wingham Wescast Industries
Pec Wee Bs travelled to Lucknow
last Thursday and scored a 5-3 de-
cision.'
Kelly Holden scored three goals
and added an assist to lead the Pee
Wee Bs to the win. Aaron Him-
melman contributed a pair of goals
and an assist.
Tyler Huffman picked up a pair
of'assists 'with single helpers going
to Jeff Leitch, Luke Focrstcr and
Adam McQuiggan.
J. Lewis, J. Havens, and C.
Hackett tallied the goals for Luck -
now. Single helpers wcrc earned
by A. Evans, A. Chilton, M. Wyn-
dam, M. Martiqgnd J. Drennan.
Belgrave Atoms finally
get to play home game
The Belgrave Atoms finally got
to play a home game at thc Bel -
grave Arena, and the home ice
paid off as Belgrave posted a pair
of victories.
The Atoms played their first
game at the Bclgravc Arena last
Monday and skated to a 10-5 deci-
sion over Brussels. On Thursdr{y,
the Atoms downed Elma-Logan 8-
3.
Garrett Knight and Chad Cook
scored first period markers to give
Bclgravc a 2-0 advantage after one
period of play against Elma-
Logan. Justin Campbell and Devin
Moffatt assisted on Knight's goal
and Campbell and Dan Mullin
helped out on Cook's tally.
Campbell and Cook scored in
the second period to give Bclgravc
a 4-1 Icad after two periods.
Campbell assisted on Cook's goal.
Third period goals for Bclgravc
were scored by Knight from
Campbell and Cook, Knight unas-
sisted, Cook from Campbell and
Moffatt from Cook.
Elma-Logan scored two third
period goals.
Bclgravc and Brussels wcrc tied
at two after the first period last
Monday with Bclgrave netting
four unanswered second period
goals to take a 6-2 lead into thc fi-
nal period. Bclgravc outscored
Brussels 4-3 in the final period.
First period goals for Bclgravc
were scored by Cook unassisted
and Ken McCracken from Cook.
Scoring in the second period
were Cook from Campbell, Camp-
bell unassisted, and two unassisted
goals by Cook.

the final period were Campbell
from Knight, Cook from Camp-
bell, Campbell from Knight and
T.J. Marks from McCracken.

enced and that was indicative of
the scores.
"The overall calibre of play was
excellent," said Munro.
Madill defeated Seaforth 7-5 in
their sccond draw, and then edged
past South Huron of Exeter, 6-5 in
their third draw.

Gagers
The Madill Mustangs travelled
to Godcrich last Wednesday after-
noon to conclude the regular sea-
son of the Huron County high
school boys basketball league. The
trip was unsuccessful as all three
teams were defeated by the host
Vikings.
The senior Mustangs trailed 30-
20 at halftime as they fell 57-39 to
the Vikings. The Mustangs fin-
ished the season with a 6-2 record,
for second place, while the Vi-
kings get first place with a game
remaining. Both Madill losses
were against the Vikings.
The Mustangs are at home
Monday for the Teague semi-final
contest.
Pat McGlynn was top shooter
for thc Mustangs with 15 points.
Justin Tessier added eight points.
Paul Renaud hooped 19 points
for the Vikings with Don Hay add-
ing 13 points.
The junior Mustangs held a 36-
29 halftime lead, but ended up on
the shortside of a 70-59 final
score.
Madill ended the regular season
with a 4-4 record and wcre on the
road Monday in semi-final action.
Mike Nolan and Adam Carr had
a dozen points each for the Mus-
tangs with Jamie Hallman leading
all scorers with 17 points for
Godcrich.
The midget -Mustangs were
down 35-10 at halftime as they fell
53-23 to Godcrich.
Greg Montgomery and Adam
Lawrence hooped four points
apiece for Madill.
Shawn Lynn scored 15 points
for the Vikings.

TAKE NOTICE that the council of the Corporation of the TQWN OF WINGHAM
will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, March 22, 1995, at 7:00 pm in the

representation either in support of , or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan

IF A PERSON or public body that requests a referral of a proposed decision in

Purpose and Effect:
The Town of Wingham, in consultation with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, the
Ministry of Natural Resources, the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority and
other approval agencies, drafted Terms of Reference for a Special Area Policy
Study having regard to the provincial Flood Plain policy statement.
Following approval of the Terms of Reference, a Master Development Plan for
the Special Policy Flood Plain area was completed. Lands within the Special
policy Area were originally designated parks and Open Space within the town of
Wingham Official Plan (approved in 1986).
This Official Plan Amendment a9d Zoning By -Law Amendment propose to
change the designation to allow for commercial development within the Special
Policy Area, subject to a number of detailed provisions that are included within
the proposed amendments_

ExistingResidential lots fronting Scott Street, affected by this amendment. will be
designated and zoned for residential development. Details of the proposed
policy include standards for:
• land use:
- requirements for the placing of 1111;
- requirements for soil engineering reports for new buildings or additions;
- standards for flood proofing;
- lot grading and drainage of the area;
- requirement for a flood emergency plan;
- methane testing requirements;
- requirements for development on or near the former landfill site;
- appropriate municipal services.
The result is Special Core Commercial and Highway Commercial Designations
and Zonings for the subject area. Properties fronting Scott Street (see attached
map) will be designated and zoned 'Residential'.
The Town of Wingham Official Plan is amended by the addition of Schedule 'E'.
Key Maps 20, 21. 24, and 25 of Zoning By -Law 2197(1992) ere to be amended
by this proposal. Copies of the complete Official Plan Amendment and zoning
amendments are available from the Town of Winghern Municipal Office.
The location of the affected lards is shown on Schedule A attached: the location
map identifies the lands within the Town.
