The home being built by Howick Homes of Wroxeter has a more ver- satile foundation wall. Using the AAB Building System, cement was poured into styrofoam forms. The AAB Building System is more versatile than the convention- al system. It is also more economi- cal. George Oriold of Howick Homes said the system provides additional insulation because the styrofoam is not removed when the cement hard- ens. He noted it becomes part of the wall. ' "The insulation is also better;" said Oriold. "With this system, t)}ere is an R-26 insulation value. The normal value is an R-12." He •added that this house on Highland Drive is the second time they have used the AAB system. A house owned by Steve and Cindy Clark in Lower Town also has the AAB building system. Because of its flexibility and ec- onomical benefits, the AAB build• ing system is suitable for any resi- dential,' commercial or industrial project. Oriold said the system also in- corporates a vapour/air barrier and can be used for studing. Each unit is designed to stack and interlock without the need of tools. Reinforcing the form units it just as easy. Steel rebars snap into indentations in the moulded -in plass tic bridging between the panels. ' After closing door and window openings, concrete is placed in the form units, providing a superior curing environment; which results in optimum concrete quality.
