The regular New Year's Eve par-
ty was well attended at the - Bel -
grave Women's Institute Hall. Af-
ter several games of progressive
euchre, a dance was enjoyed to mu-
sic supplied by Les Shaw. A pot-
luck meal was served at midnight
to welcome in the new year.

Christmas in the Belgrave arena
complex on Dec. 26., Boxing Day.

and Julie. On Boxing Day, she trav-
eled to Brampton where she visited
with Bev and Jim Thurley. 'On
Tuesday, Dec. 27, Mrs. Straker
traveled with her cousin, Sue Hna-
tiuk of Ottawa and her husband Al,
to Etobicoke to visit Mrs. Dorothy
Williams. That evening, Mrs.
Straker went to Toronto, where she
visited her daughter Gail, returning
to Brampton that evening. On the
Wednesday, Dec. 28, she visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Aylestock
of Toronto. She returned home on
Thursday, Dec. 29. In the after=
noon, she visited with Agnes and
Ron Delberuge of Lucknow and
had supper that evening with Lloyd
Bonnett of Lucknow,

BRUSSELS --On Christmas Eve, hope for 1995 is that we as Chris

MOWBRAY --Alexander Mow-
bray of Pinecrest Manor, Lucknow,
passed away at Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital on Dec. 29, 1994. He
was 104 years of age.
Born Aug. 25, 1890, in Culross
Township, he was a son of John
Mowbray and •Isabella MacKenzie.
He was predeceased by his wives,
Mabel Morrison and Grace Rush,
one son Kenneth, one brother Rob-
ert and his sister, Mabel Jacques.
Left to mourn his passing is his
family: Virdin Mowbray and his
wife Margaret of Lucknow; Alba
McIntyre of Teeswater; John Mow-
bray and his wife Kay and Helen
Strang, all of British Columbia.
There ' are 17 grandchildren and
many great and great -great grand-
children.
Funeral services for the late Al-
exander Mowbray were conducted
from the MacKenzie -McCreath Fu-
neral Home, Lucknow, on Sunday,
Jan. 1, 1995. Rev. P. Kinsman of
the Lucknow Presbyterian Church.
Six grandsons were pallbearers

WILSON --Betty Isabel Wilson of
Wingham passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Dec. 27,
1994, in her 69th year. She was the
wife of the late Jim Wilson (1992)
and the late Mac Thompson (1962).
Left to moqrn her passing is her
family: Mrs. William (Christine)
Mitchell of Clarksburg; Mrs. Paul
-(Mary Louise) Strimas of Owen
Sound; Alan Thompson of Red
Deer, Alta.; John Thompson of
Holland Landing and Lawrence
Wilson of Collingwood. She was
the grandmother of nine grandchil-
dren.
Mrs. Wilsoh was the sister of
Marj Farrish of Lucknow; Louie
Bell of Mississauga and Mrs. Jack
(Merle)'Hodgins of Kinloss Town-
ship. She was predeceased by one
brother, Alvin Thompson.

GORRIE--The Women's Mis-
sionary Society of Knox Presbyteri-
an Church met at the home of Mrs.
David Neilson for the Christmas
meeting.
The worship service from Glad
Tidings was entitled "A Time to
Ponder God's Grace", Mrs. Neilson
presided and led the worship ser-
vice, Mrs, Paul Chambers read
scripture . passages telling the
Christmas story, including the
prophecy from Isaiah, the shep-
herds and angels, the wise men and
the star. Appropriate carols were
sung throughout the service.
The Aim and Purpose were re-
peated in unison. The roll call -was
answered by naming a favorite car-
ol and 12 visits were reported. it
was agreed to make a Christmas
donation to the Bible Socierty and
Armagh.
The slate of officers for 1995 in-
cludes: president, Mrs. Neilson;
secretary, Mrs. Alvin Mundell;
WMS treasurer, Mrs. Glenn Under-
wood; Ladies' Aid treasurer, Mrs.
Anne Moir Johnson; associate
members, Mrs. Chambers; litera-
ture, Mrs. David Weide and social
committee. Mrs. Johnson, Mrs.
Harvey Adams, Mrs. Roy Stewart
and Mrs. Alex Graham.
Mrs. Chambers read a poem enti-
tled "Christmas Is More Than a
Day". Then she spoke on Christmas
thoughts and asked all to contribute
their thd(ughts, on the birth of the
Christ .'- the joy, love, hope, peace,
star; angels and shepherds. "If we
dwell on 'these things, as we pre-
pare for Christmas, we will experi-
ence what true Christmas is all
about," she concluded.
Mrs. Johnson read a Christmas
fantasy and members sang some of
the songs clamed during the roll
call. Mrs. Johnson will host the Jan-
uary meeting today, Jan. I 1 .

tain the residents of Huronlea at
Brussels for the December birthday
party.
