THE WINGHAMAIIYANCFTIMES - LOOKING HACK AT THE YEAR THAT WAS...
Midgets down Lucknow
with shortened _roster
Wingham Lions Club Midgets
kept themselves 'tuned up'with an
exhibition game in Lucknow be-
tween Christmas and New Year's.
Even with a shortened line-up of
nine skaters and a goaltender, the
game went into the club's win col-
umn.
With both regular goalies work-
ing holiday shifts, the Midgets got
able fill-in support between the
pipes from Bantam netminder Rob
Warwick, who backstopped the
Midgets to a 4-2 win.
A couple of defenceman teamed
up on the first goal of the game -
Joel Pegg scored it, asisste dby
Jeff King - to give Wingham a 1-
0 lead halfway through the first
period. Lucknow tied it just a
couple of minutes later, but Kevin
Love put Wingham ahead, 2-1,
with an unasissted goal in the final
minute of the opening frame.
Lucknow evened the score at
two with a power play goal in the
first minute of the second period.
But, that was to be their last 'dent-
ing of the [wince' for the game.
Wingham's King scored the
eventual winner halfway through
the second period, assisted by
Gary Skinn. Then Skinn scored a
goal himself, assisted by Travis
Baier, to close out the second peri-
od with Wingham ahead 4-2.
The third period was scoreless
for both teams, but didn't lack for
activity around the penalty box, as
nine of the game's 13 penalties
were called in the third, including,.
a couple of game misconducts,
one to each team.
The Midgets were at home last
night against Port Elgin, and then
travel to Clinton on Sunday and to
Milverton on Jan. 15, for what ap-
pears to be the teams final games
of the regular schedule.

final score.

to a 3-3 draw in the team's second
game of the tourney.

goals for the Hawks with Ashley
Campbell assisting on both mark-
ers and Jenni Campbell earning
one assist.
