antams
WOAA Bantam action saw the
Wmgham Kinsmen Bantams come
up short with a lackluster perfor-
mance in Goderich Saturday night
losing 6-4.
It was evident the Kinsmen Ban-
tam B's were not there to play hock-
ey. They outshot Goderich 36-29
but were out -hustled to the puck
when it counted. Most of the Ban-
tams played like they were still in
an Atom league. With the exception
of Gratto, Olson, and Evers, the rest
of the squad was out for a Sunday
afternoon shinny game. They sim-
ply showed little energy and enthu-
siasm except for seven minutes in
the third period.
Wingham went out in front at
2:22 of the first on an unassisted
goal from Jason Gratto. Ryan Galla-
her netted the second goal on a
great solo effort as he broke in over
the left side, froze the goalie on a
great deke, and stuffed the puck in
on the short side, giving Wingham
a 2-1 lead after one period of play.
Goderich then proceeded to score
three unanswered goals in •the sec-
ond period and then the first goal
in the final period to go out in front
5-2. Then for the last seven minutes
of the game the Kinsmen Bantams
came alive. Ryan Deyell tucked in
Wingham's third goal. Gordon
Welch drew the K -B's within one
when he wristed a power play goal
past a well -screened Goderich
goalie with J. Lane assisting.
Wingham could not get the
equalizer and at 13:43 Goderich
scored their sixth goal on a power
play. The Kinsmen Bantam's will
have to wait for the rubber match
to get back at Goderich. The K -B's
next game before the Christmas
break is Thursday in Clinton.
