Wheeler. A time of meditation was
provided by each unit. Mrs. Corrig-
an of Unit III used Luke's version of
Mary to portray her as a leading
lady, humble, open and obedient to
God's will. Mrs. Isabel Garniss used
Christian symbols of Christmas as a
basis for a meditation from Unit II.
Carol singing, led by Mrs. Bessie
Johnston of Unit IV, concluded the
program.
call of White Gifts was
answered by 20 members. Mrs.
Hastings gave the secretary's
report. The annual report given by
the treasurer of the finances for
1989 resulted in donations being
given to Wingham and Area Pallia-
tive Care Services, Town and Coun-
try Homemakers, Drug and Alco-
hol Concerns and the Kurtzville fire
victims.
A discussion regarding the care-
taking resulted in it being left until
the annual meeting in January, the
carpet cleaning until spring. Dele-
gates to the Presbyterial Annual in
Seaforth on Jan. 22 were appointed;
a donation to help with cards was
made to Mrs. Elliott and a vote of
thanks was extended to Unit IV for
the lovely paint job in the base-
ment.
A letter from Rev Swan, serving
near Ottawa, was read by Mrs.
Mary Peacock, telling of his work
there and his marriage on Nov 25.
Annual reports were given by units
and conveners and Mrs. Sellers pre-
sented the report of the nominating
committee. After a vote of thanks to
the president, Christmas treats
were enjoyed.
The new officers will be installed
by Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal at the
morning service Jan. 7.

Win high prizes
Mrs. Mel Jacklin and Albert Cook
won the high prizes at the weekly
euchre party at the WI Hall on Dec
13. Sixteen tables were in play.
Second high were Mrs. Wilford
Caslick and George Johnston; low
prizes went to Mrs. Olive Fuller
and Mrs. Leslie Vincent (playing as
a man) and novelty prizes were
won by Mrs. Herb Clayton and
Harold McCormack.
There will be euchre again on
Wednesday, Dec. 20, starting at 8
p.m. Everyone is welcome.

and their friends were royally treat-
ed when the United Church
Women catered for their Christmas
Dinner at noon Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Rev. Jeff Hawkins said grace and
all busily began to fill their plates
with turkey and all the trimmings,
and a tempting choice of pies for
dessert.
A special cake was presented to
Mrs. Sheldon Mann as it was her
birthday. Alvin Mundell thanked
the ladies for their hospitality.
Mrs. Lloyd Jacques brought the
meeting to order, and "O Canada"
was sung. In reply to a request
received from the town fathers for
Christmas lighting project, the
seniors agreed to pay for two poles.
Mrs. Mann and Mrs. Alvin
Mundell played two piano duets,
"The Shepherd Boy" and "Star of
the East". Rev. Hawkins presented
a brief meditation on "gifts". Wrth
Mrs. Wilbur Hogg at the piano, a
number of Christmas carols were
sung.
Mrs. Lloyd Faust introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Walter Good,
who took the group through the
magic of her slides to visit the Holy
Land where Christ was bornand
lived almost 2,000 years ago. She
related the locations in modern
Israel to the gospel story of Christ's
life on earth, adding a new dimen-
sion to our Christmas memories.
Mrs. Mundell thanked Mrs.
Good and all who had taken part.
Mrs. Faust conducted a Christmas
Acrostic and Trivia contest, won by
Rev Hawkins and Mrs. Robert Peel.
