Dear tribe":
It is just a year striae I took office
as • a year during which I
have learned much about kx:al gov-
ernartent and h,aye tried toapply
Seale of that knowledge. I believe
that tis Isa,s been a good council.
Members have worked %fa tegeth.•
er and there has been an absenoe of
petty bickering and unnecessary
dialogue.
a member of council is 03
easy task. The voters elect men and
women to council in an act of faith:
faith that the people they elect have
a eofjustice faith In tbefrbiIi-
ty
and judgment and faith that, in
the long run, they will act
unselfishly for the good of the
town_
The voters elected ns, in short,
because they had confidence in aur
judgment and our abffity to esuarche
that jud -et. ern from a position
where we could determine what
wereetheir own best interests. This
may mean that we must, on ooze -
Mora, lead, inform, correct and
sometimes even ignore public opine
in, if we are to mends' e fully
judgment for which we we elect-
ed.
Acting without selfish motive or
private bias, councillors are not
demagogues, eccentric or eaten
littelans insensitive to the fed-
- the
not witaf hout trepidaffc. that the
voters will be the s, 7, Of the
wisdom of their course but they
have fafth that the voters will at
least respect tha., 1es that
motivate their decisions.
Having all of the above, 1

The Lower Town Dam offered no
flood control benefits, the/claret

There have been several well-
ntentioned attempts by local
pie to have the dam replaced
CV faced with the list of smear,

would be reerdred and their fist of
requirements, these efforts came to
naught But we will clean up the
area and we Wfii mate an atberaive

Still on the positive vide, eaupcill

of our sewage pumping stations
and construction of a new treat -

town's share wilt be about $970,020.
We also have plans to improve
stseet and a threeyear plan
to sidewalks,
Virmeram Horticultural Soci-

improvement! to Cruickshank
Park, this is militated to
cost over e eja30 and will irwolve a
lot of vohmtary work.
The initial sta of this project
will cost $10,1300 and in order to
give this very worthwitele effort the
required impetus, council has
agreed I donate G,000 to the
