at conference
Rev. and Mrs. Douglas Whitelaw
and Mrs. Russell McGuire of Wing -
ham and Mrs. Dorothy MacLeod of
Kincardine attended a conference in
Israel of the Western Ontario Dis-
trict of the Pentecostal Assemblies
of Canada from Nov 20 to 29. They
report excellent weather and a
wonderful tour of the land of the
Bible.

has most shoots
Mary Henderson chalked up the
most shoots at the Legion shoot
party on Monday night of last
week_Sixteen tables were in play.
Mari Coultes had the high pink
card and Lewis Stonehouse the
high white card. Low cards were.
held by Barb Carbert and Gordon
Louttit. Dray prizes were awarded
• to Vera Marsh, Olive McKay, Mor-
ley Bushell, Helen Stonehouse acid
Margaret Robertson.
The next party will be euchre on
Monday, Dec. 18.
Christmas
meeting at
. Aridre
The Women's Missionary Society
of St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church held its Christmas meeting
Dec. 5 in the upper room. Mrs.
Hazel Bateman and Mrs. Grace
Ford were in charge of the meeting.
Mrs. Bateman opened the meet-
ing with a poem, .'The First Gift",
followed by a hymn. Mrs. Ford
read a poem, "That Holy Night".
Scripture was read by Mrs. Bate-
man who also gave a meditation
from Glad Tidings. Following the
singing of another hymn, Mrs.
Bateman closed the meditation
with scripture and Mrs. Ford led in
prayer.
Miss Merle Wilson gave a read-
ing on Martin Luther and Mrs. Ford
played a medley of Christmas car-
ols. Mrs. Annie Conn and Mrs.
Jessie Lapp received the offering
which was dedicated by Mrs. Ger-
tie Tiffin. Miss Wilson presided at
the piano for the meeting.
President Mrs. Shirley Donaldson
conducted the business, secretary
Mrs. Marjorie Wall read the min-
utes, correspondence and roll call
and treasurer Mrs. Bateman gave
her report. Donations were made to
Ewart College and Scott Mission.
The closing prayer was given by
Mrs. Donaldson. Hostesses were
Mrs. Wall and Mrs. Olive McKay.

reported that B. J. Price had been
home. for a weekend froze. Sick
Children's Hospital, Toronto, where
he has been a patient the past two
months, This past week, he has
returned home to stay and he has
been back to school a few days.

The family of Velma Mann host-
ed a family gatheringon Sunday in
honor of her 80th birthday. Most of
them attended tike church service at
Corrie United Church. Forty-nine
sat down to a lonely meal prepared
and served by tfte United Church
Women, and the remainder of the
afternoon was spent visiting and
taking pictures. 1C4rs. Mann also
received many lovely gifts.
. The first Sunday of Advent was
observed at the Sunday "morning
service with Daniel Tear lighting
the first candle. Reve Jeff Hawkins
based his sermon on ;`Running a
Good Defense."
