Teeswater had chalked up a 5-4
win over Paisley and a 5-1 win over
Flowick to advance to the B2 cham-
pionship_ Teeswater met Chesley,
which had elefi.atea Ripley 5-2 and
Lucknow 4-3. Teeswater defeated
Chesley 7-0 to tat the champi-
onship title.
Port Elea won the B1 consola-
tion with a 2-1 win over Mount For-
est and B2 division consolation
winners were Ripley, over Chesley_
Ripley also won the distinction of
miestsportnntanlike team in the
tournament with just 26 penalty
minutes in three games.

•Lions Midgets are superb
A fired -up Wmgbam Lions Wid-
gets played their best hockey of the
year this past weekend at the Silver
Stidc Regionals in lafingham.
In their opening game against
Mount Forest, Dave McKee led the
Lions opening win with two goals

which earlier had defeated Listow-

dominated Exeter from the opening

The win moved the Lions to the
131 Anal against Kincardine Sunday.
Wingham opened the scoring as
Rob MacKay scored from Vanden-
broek and Bloomberg, at the 8:51
mark of the opening frame. The
score remained 1-0 until Khmer-
dine's Lou Godfrey tied the game at
1-1 with a goal at 136 of the sec-
ond. Two more Kincardine goals
gave them a 3-1 lead after two
frames_ Kincardine increased its
lead to 4-1 early in the third_ Wing -
ham never said die and Jeff McKee
cut the lead to two with a goal with
help from brother Dave and right
winger Ryan Gallaher.
Wingham called a stick measure-
ment on Kincardine's number two,
Kyle McMillan, with 1:19 remaining
and the stick was found to be ille-
gal, but Kincardine's Kyle McMil-
lan drove a shot from his own blue -
line that found the open net as

Kincardine Caine away with a

B1 championship. Wingham play-
ers can be proud of the way they
played this week in the tournament
= they only took 18 minutes in
penalties in three games.
They got excellent goaltending
from McGrath and Andrew Mann.

Wingham, officially opened last week's Silver Stick tournament on
Friday evening with the dropping of the pucks. Facing off are

the Wingham Lions Midgets.

Single -round, 30 -point horseshoe
games were played last Thursday
evening at the Wingham Sports-
men's Club. Harold Carter and
Peter deGnaot were first, three wins
and a plus of 28.
In second. place were Gerry
Freiburger and Bob Gavreluk, two
wins and a plus of 58. Syd Lawson
and Bruce Casemore were third,
two wins and a plus of 42, while
Joyce Gardner and Glen Casemore
were fourth, two wins and a plus of
36_
Rounding out the scoring were
Ivan Gardner and Bruce Schell, one
win and a plus of 71
