E. Hollands brings message
of 'From Prison to Praise'
Ernie Hollands, ex -convict, has
told his "From Prison to Praise„
story to literally millions of people
through his books, tapes, on televi-
sion and at speaking engagements
all over the world.
Last Tuesday it was Wingham's
turn to "hit the big times" as a
capacity crowd packed the local
Legion Hall to listen to this capti-
vatingTo a speak
d -o
sot crowd of over 200
people at this bi-monthly meeting
of "Boys' Night Out", a non-
denominational Christian men's
group, Mr. Hollands traced his past
from his early days in a Halifax
reform school at age 12, to a maxi-
mum security call at Millhaven
prison over 30 years later.
In between, Mr. Hollands fought,
stole and shot his way through 25
years in the Canadian and Ameri-
can penal systems. In fact, his role
model during this time was the
infamous bank robber John
Dillinger.
However, there was an abrupt
turn -around in his life, thanks to
the love of an unknown Christian
family whose members visited him
once a month for 18 months. When
Mr. Hollands told this story last
week in Wingham, it was a touch-
ing testimony for all present
Mr. Hollands was released from
prison years before his time, a mira-
cle which no one can explain, he
told those assembled.
He now speaks proudly of his
love for God and life, as well as the
message he shares with' thousands
of -inmates the world over through
a series of prison visits. In addition,
he speaks to many other groups,
such as the group last week in
Wmgham.
Wingham and area was truly
blessed to have Mr. Hollands at
Boys' Night Out and those
involved report it was a terrific
evening. Miracles can happen and
Mr Hollands is living proof.
