Joyce VanVliet, 53,
dies at her residence
A longtime resident of Brussels
and area, Mrs. Joyce VanVliet of RR
2, Brussels, passed away Thursday,
Oct. 26, at her home in Grey Town-
ship at the age of 53. Death fol-
lowed a lengthy illness.
The former Joyce Agnes Thomas,
she was the beloved wife of Jan
VanVliet; loving mother of John
and Diane VanVliet of Walton; Deb-
bie and Frank Claessens, Milton;
Janis and Brian McCooey of Fort
Erie and Joyanne VanVliet of St.
Catharines; loved grandmother of
Jennifer and Michelle Claessens
and Amanda and Meghan
McCooey; beloved daughter of
Mrs. Verna Thomas of Brussels and
the late Harold Thomas; dear sister
of Charlie Thomas, Brussels; Ruth
Durst„ Stratford; Joan Edgar, Lis,
towel and the late Mary Thomas.
Funeral service was held Sunday,
Oct. 29, at Betts Funeral Home,
Brussels Chapel, Rev. Bonnie Cole
Arnal officiating. Interment fol-
lowed in Brussels Cemetery
Pallbearers were Bob thonias,
David Thomas, Doug Durst,
Michael Durst, Murray Cousins
and Randy Cousins. Floral tributes
were carried by Clarence
McCutcheon, Jim Armstrong, Wal-
lace Bell, Don Fraser and Doug
Evans.
In remembrance, donations to
Huron County Home Care or
Duff's United Church, Walton,
would be appreciated.
Mrs. Hugh Armstrong
dies after lengthy illness
After a lingering battle with ill-
ness, Mrs. Hugh Armstrong of
Teeswater was granted release on
Friday, Oct. 27, at University Hospi-
tal, London.
The former Llewella Pletch, Mrs.
Armstrong was a daughter of the
late alerbert and Annie Pletch. She
was )orn in Carrick Township. She
and Ler husband farmed on the sec-
ond concession of Culross Town-
ship for many years, before their
retirement to the village of Teeswa-
ter.
Mrs. Armstrong was active in
church and community life. She
was a member of Knox Presbyteri-
an Church, Teeswater, the Corona-
tion Rebekah Lodge and Huron
Chapter 89, Order of the Eastern
Star. Other organizations also bene-
fitted from her abilities and skills
and she played an active role in the
planning of this past summer's
Teeswater-Culross Old Boys' and
Girls' Reunion, despite failing
health.
Many relatives and friends regret
her passing but those who will miss
her most are her husband, Hugh;
their family: Barbara and Carman
Fullerton of Paisley and Mac and
Alma Armstrong, Culross Town-
ship, and their seven grandchil-
dren. Also surviving are three sis-
ters and their husbands: Irene and
Gilbert Sauve and Anne and John
Cameron, all of Toronto; Hilda and
Rev. Eroll Schilliday of Vangonver;
and three brothers, Sairaand Thel-
ma Pletch of Belgrave, George
Pletch of Sanguda, Alberta, Tom
and Edna Pletch, Brussels. She was
predeceased by one daughter; two
sisters and three brothers.
Friends called at the MacPherson
Funeral Chapel, Teeswater, Satur-
day evening and Sunday afternoon
and evening. Sisters of the Corona-
tion Rebekah Lodge held a memori-
al service on Sunday evening at 7,
followed by a service led by Huron
Chapter 89, Order of the Eastern
Star.

WEILER—Larry and Jacqui ot
RR 2, Teeswater, are happy to
announce the birth of their son,
Lawrence Edward, on Oct. 21 at
Wingham and District Hospital.
The new arrival weighed nine
pounds, 11 ounces and is a brother
for John. Third grandson for Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Weiler; second grand-
son for Mr. and Mrs. Corr Spieren-
berg; second great-grandson for Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Huisman and
Petranella Spierenberg.
JOHNSTON—With joy, Mr. and
Mrs. Charlie Johnston of RR 4,
Wingham, announce the birth of
their son, Tyler William Jonathan,
six pounds, 11 ounces, on Oct. 22 at
Wingham and District Hospital.
MAXWELL—Cindy and Pat are
proud to announce the arrival of
Travis Patrick on Oct. 23 at Wing -
ham and District Hospital, weigh-
ing in at eight pounds, five ounces.
A new brother for Trevor and Troy.
Proud grandparents are Gary
Sword, Toronto and Donna Wright,
Wingham.
CURRIE—Bruce Currie and San-
dra Lowry announce the birth of
their son, Devon Joseph, Oct. 25 at
Wingham and District Hospital. He
weighed an even eight pounds and
is a brother for Paula and Patrida.
Grandparents are June Lowry and
Andy Allan, Murray and Sharon
Lowry, Barb and Joe Currie.
Casey Casemore
has most shoots
Casey Caseviore had the most
shoots at the Legion shoot party
last Monday rdght. Twenty tables
were in play. Nell Johnston had the
high pink card and Margaret Hest -
Inge; the high White card.
Laura Souch and Don
McCormick had the low cards and
draw prizes were awarded to Betty
Burley, Ruby Hanna, Isabell Mont.
gomery, Catherine Campbell and
Cliff Johnston.
The next party will be shoot on
Monday, Nov 6,
A private family funeral service
was held Monday, with interment
following in Teeswater-Culross
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carman
Fullerton, Robert Fullerton, John
Fullerton, James Fullerton, glmer
Ross and Bob Colvin.
Memorial donations to Knox
Presbyterian Church Memorial
Fund would be appreciated by the
family as expressions of concern
and sympathy.
