The group learned about microwave ovens and microwave terms were explained. Mrs. Elliott demonstrated spudweisers and meat loaf in a mug. Members com- pleted a word scramble and home activities were assigned. . MICRO MANIACS BELGRAVE—Ten members attended the meeting in the WI Hall. The members talked about meal planning, meals that taste good, look good and smell good and how to get organized. They also made a delicious salad and learned about microwave ovens. SAFETY ENERGIZERS BELGRAVE—Mrs. Ruth Gordon hosted the meeting and Lisa Alexander read the minutes. Six members answered the roll call. Beverley Elston introduced Con- stable Jim Dore, the guest speaker, who said that the majority of vehi- cle accidents in this area are alco- hol-related. If the police detect alco- hol, they give the driver an alert test. If he fails the test, he then accompanies the officer back to the police station for further testing. He also told the group many miscon- ceptions about drinking. Black cof- fee does not help get rid of alcohol in the system. Constable Dore showed pictures of marijuana that was grown in the ' area. He also had a sample of the drug and showed two types of weigh scales that dealers use when selling drugs. He pointed out the many side effects from the use of drugs. Another interesting point made by Constable Dore was the fact that when parents leave for vacation they can sign a form at the police station, giving the police permis- sion to clieck the house for unwant- ed people partying. Margie Gordon thanked Consta- ble Dore for his informative talk. LEAN CUISINES BLUEVALE_Joyce Johnston hosted the meeting. The,members divided into two groups; one group made strawberry sundae topping and the other butterscotch sauce. The next meeting will be in the form of a party at the home of Bon- nie Johnston. THE ARTHArilS SOCETY 1 defense playing together. Mike King was sparkling between the pipes as Listowel had two power play chances that were foiled by the Atom goaltender. However, with a little Over a minute left in the period, Listowel's Eby scored to make it 3-0. In the final frame, penalties killed the Wingham team with Listowel getting three power play goals. At the 4:51 mark, Wingham finally got on the score sheet as John Martin made a nice rush down the wing and fed a perfect pass out in front to Ryan Robinson who made no mistake. Curtis Hunter also collect- ed an assist. This seemed to lift the team's spirits and they started applying more pressure, but Listowel's goal- tending stood up well. This was the first outing for the guys and gal and Coach Dave Mar- tin is really looking forward to an exciting season of hockey.
