Festival at the Jack Miner Sanctu-
ary, Kingsville.
Mrs. Nellie Allan visited last
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Elliott and family, Petersburg.
• Rafael and Ilona Elste and Brid-
gette Abel, who visited the past
three weeks with their uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Klaassen,
have returned to their homes in
Germany.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kennedy have
returned from an eight-day bur
tour to Ozark Mountain counfidy,
which took them to Kalamazoo,
Michigan, Branson Eureka Springs
and Memphis, where they enjoyed
a tour of Graceland.
Mrs. Norma Behrns visited last
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ross
Kercher at Hensall and helped her
sister, Ila, celebrate her birthday
Friends here were sorry to hear
that B. J. Priceeight-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Price, was severe-
ly burned at their home while help-
ing to burn leaves on Wednesday

Hawkins -Stewart vows
are exchanged at Gorrie
Gorrie United Church was the
scene of a dOuble-ring ceremony at
2 p.m. on Juy 8, uniting Julie Anne
Stewart andleffrey Blake Hawkins
in holy matrimony.
The bride is the daughter of
Wayne and Catherine Stewart, Gor-
a' rie, while the groom's parents are
Blake and 'Nancy Hawkins, Kent

Hofmann played the coronet. The
processional was played on trum-
pets by Patrick Hofmann, a friend
of the bride and Aaron Stewart, her
brother.
The church was decorated with a
profusion of freshly -cut pink and
white flowers and baby's breath.
The bride, given in marriage by her
father, wore an ivory satin gown
with a sequin and pearl bodice,
sweetheart lace at the neckline,
puffed sleeves and three -quarter -
length skirt with a large bow at the
back. She carried pink roses,
stephanotis, baby's breath and trail-
ing ivy. t
Shannon Hopper of Kitchener,
cousin of the bride; was matron of
honor and dressed in dusty rose
satin. The bridesmaids, Larissa and
Jennifer Fenton of Gorrie, also
cousins of the bride, wore pale pink
satin dresses with wreaths of deli-
cate flowers on their heads and
bouquets of the same.
The groom's brother, Jim
Hawkins of KentBridge, served as
best man, while guests were ush-
ered by Vaughn Huff of Wallace -
burg, a friend of the groom; Aaron
Stewart of Gorrie, the bride's broth-
er and Adam Fenton of Gorrie, the
bride's cousin:
The pink and white theme con-
tinued at the Waterloo Inn ball-
room. The bride's mother, dressed
in jade green, received guests along
with the groom's mother, who
chose aqua.
Following a wedding trip to the
Deerhurst Inn and Country Club,
Huntsville, the newlyweds are
residing at Gorrie, where Mr.
Hawkins is minister at the Gorrie
and Wroxeter United Churches.

Wednesday with Mrs. Cecil
Grainger.

Moose Jaw is spending some tune
with her aunt, Mrs. Joe Simmons

The Gorrie firefighters had an
excellent turnout for their breakfast
in the fire hall on Sunday morning.
More than 300 attended.
Margaret Thornton of Agincourt
spent the weekend with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. William Thorn-
ton.

Mrs. Donald MacAdam chaired
the 34th Bruce County Women's
Institute rally, held recently at Pais-
ley, with the theme, "Happiness Is
Getting Together — with Friends".
Information was given about work-
shops offered in 1990, as well as
, new 4-H projects. A workshop on
landscaping is to be held in Febru-
ary at Underwood, Rocklyn and
Shallow Lake.
Mrs. William Henderson, the
new proVincial board director for
District 16, brought greetings from
FWIO. Tartan sales have been sub-
stantial this year. Several new
items, namely tea sets and candy
dishes, were introduced this year
and they sold extremely well.
Mrs. Middleton reported on the
quilt sale for Participation Lodge.
Approximately $14,800 was raised,
with the top quilt Selling for 5750.
Members were encouraged to
write to Benoit Boucher, Minister of
Transportation, regarding the Via
Rail cutbacks, to express their con-
cern.

GORRIE—The Come Alive Club
welcomed visitors from Belmore,
Fordwich and Wroxeter lo their
October Games Night. A game of
Scrabble provided = alternative for
a large group of 1.*Qpiayers.
Prizes for euchre were awarded
to Stella Pocaluyko, Marion Kirby,
Russell Nickel and Peter Browne.
Margaret Dane was the UNO win-
ner. Group III, with conveners Janet
Hogg and Velma Mann, were
hostesses and served a bountiful
lunch to prolong this time of fel-
lowship.
The Gorrie seniors will meet
again brt Nov. 14 and the last
Games Night of the year will be
held Nov. 28.
