Mrs. Betty Gibson recently enjoyed a four-day bus tour to Frankenmuth and St. Ignace, Michi- gan and the Agawa Canyon. Frank Gibson and son Gary of Cambridge called on relatives in the area en Sunday. Mrs. Annie Pittendreigh and Miss Minnie McElwain attended the 50th wedding anniversary &le- bration of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Aitchi- son of Williamsford, held in the Dornoch United Church on Sunday, Oct. 1. Mrs. Linda Gilbert of Peterbor- ough and jim Soper of Bolton spent Thanksgiving weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Soper. Friendship House services explained to UCW ladies FORDWICH—The services avail- able at Huron County's Survival Through Friendship House at Goderich were explained by guest speaker, Julie Lee, when the United Church Women held their Thankof- fering meeting on Monday evening, Oct. 2. Miss Lee is an executive director of the home. She was intro- duced by Mrs. Diane Mann and thanked by Mrs. Jennie Wilson who presented her with a gift as a token of appreciation. . _ The evening started with a deli- cious supper served by the after- noon unit. President Mrs. Mann welcomed everyone and business items were discussed. Final plans were made for the turkey supper on Oct. 24. ' The worship was conducted by the evening unit. Mrs. Edith Gibson read a poem, "In Everything Give Thanks", followed by a hymn. Mrs. Grace Sanderson read scripitire Maitland WI sponsors euchre A dessert euchre was held Thurs- day afternoon, Sept. 28, in the Wingham Town Hall, sponsored by the Maitland Women's Institute. Thirteen tables were in play. Pro- ceeds were designated to go to a worthwhile community project. Mrs. Cliff Bray welcomed every- one and Mrs. Earl Hamilton read a humorous poem, "Who Will Make the Squares?". Desserts and refresh- ments were served. Winners were: high scores, Mrs. Kay McCormick and Mrs. Nora Finnigan; consolation, Mrs. Olive Fuller and Herb Clayton. Special prizes went to the table with the highest overall score. Jamie Sanderson of Newmarket spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. James Sanderson. Mrs. William Wade and Mrs. Allan Griffith were dinner guests Tuesday evening with Mrs. Cliff Marks. The Wroxeter Senior Citizens began their fall meetings with a potluck dinner on Wednesday and had a large attendance.
