Here comes hockey season
Winter is just around the corner,
and so is hockey.
The Wingham Optimist Novices
are getting ready for their upcom-
ing season, and according to early
indications, the group is ready for
action.
This year's team will be directed
by Tom Irwin as head coach, assist-
ed by Bert Cameron and Jim
Inwood.
With 22 players registered in this
year's Novice program, Wingham
will have two teams competing in
two divisions, thus providing plen-
ty of ice time for all the players
involved. However, there is still
room for more players. If you were
born in 1980 or 1981 and are inter-
ested in playing hockey this year,
please contact Jim Inwood at 357-
3086.
Also some additional coaches
will be necessary when the two
teams are formed and anyone inter-
ested in sharing some time should
contact John Bateson at 357-3096.
The boys competed in four tour-
naments, were finalists at New
Hamburg and Guelph, division
finalists at Stratford and consola-
tion winners at Goderich.
Bloemberg reports
to farm team
at Flint, Mich.
Wingham's Jeff Bloemberg has
gone to Flint, Mich., to play for the
New York Rangers' farm team
there. Bloemberg reported to the
team last week.
Last winter he played several
games with the Rangers in New
York and still may be "called up" if
the need arises.
