away suddenly at her home on
Sept. 18.
Mrs. Mair was the former Evelyn
Roe Scott, a daughter of the late

Thursday, Sept. 21, Mrs. Vera Kerr
of Brookhaven, Wingham, in her
97th year. The former Vera A. G.
Bunke e was the beloved wife of
the at Joseph John Kerr (1975);
dear mother of Marjorie and Patrick
Hennessey of London; Luther and
Margaret Kerr of Lachine, Quebec;
Robert and Lois Kerr of Peterbor-
ough; mother-in-law of Luella Kerr,
Goderich. Also surviving are 10
grandchildren and11. great -rand -
children. She was pre €,Eidaed by
her sons, Dnginii (19 J lila. Jack
(1981); three sisters and four broth-
ers. Friends may call at The McBur-
ney Funeral Home on Tuesday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral ser-
vice will be held in the funeral
home on Wednesday at 11 a.m.,
Rev. J. Rea Grant officiating. Inter-
ment will follow in Wingham

the charity of one's choice.
Brown family mourns
death of dear mother
With great sadness, the family
announces the death of Emma
Brown of Wingham on Sunday,
Sept. 24, in her 97th year. She was
the beloved wife of the late William
J. Brown (May, 1972);
Loved mother to Marvin and
Anne Brown of Ottawa; Beryl and
Ted Elliott of Wmgham; Hilda and
Bill Rowland of Burlington and
Norma and John Hopper of Missis-
sauga. Also survived by nine
grandchildren and six great-grand-
children. She was predeceased by
three sisters and eight brothers.
Mrs. Brown had been a resident
of Wingham for over 60 years. As
well, she was a member of the
Wingham United Church and a life
member of the Huron Chapter•No.
89 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Visitation at The McBurney
Funeral Home, 35 Patrick Street
West, Wingham, on Tuesday from 2
to 4 arid 7 to 9 p.m. Eastern Star,
will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service is Wednesday at 2
p.m. with Rev. J Rea Grant officiate

Funeral service was held
Wednesday, Sept. 20, for a resident
of Brussels, Archer Mark Grewar,
who passed away Sunday, Sept. 17,
at Wingham and District Hospital.
Rev. C. McAvoy officiated at Betts
Funeral Home, Brussels Chapel,
and interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery
Pallbearers were Harvey Shaw,
Murray Lowe, Carl Stief, Robert
Galbraith, Bob Sproulearid John
Galbraith.
Mr. Grewar was in his 81st year,
the beloved husband of Netty Mae
Galbraith of Brussels; loved father
of Kinloch and Lois Grewar of Lon-
donderry, New Hampshire and
Jack and Diane Grewar, Listowel;
loved grandfather of Nancy Merritt
of Clearhrook, B.C., Bradle# Gre-
Teitinto and Paitielapewar
f Mississauga; brother of the late
Mrs. Vern Schinbein.

Isabel Stewart of Manitoba.
Friends paid their respects to the
Mair family on Wednesday after-
noon and evening at the Betts
Funeral Home, Brussels. Removal
was made to Melville Presbyterian

at two o'clock Thursday, Rev. Car-
olyn McAvoy officiating. She was
carried to her final testing place in
Brussels Cemetery by Jinn Bowman,
Gerald Gibson, Doug Hemingway,
Harold Steffler, Murray Hoover and
Lloyd Wheeler. Flower bearers<
were David Rossart, Jim Bassel and
Jim Scott.
Donations to Melville Presbyteri-
an Church Memorial Fund or the
Ontario Heart and Stroke Founda-
tion would be appreciated- by the
family as expressions of concern
and sympathy.

The weather has been great so
we've been enjoying it to the fullest
by taking afternoon walks. Last
week we made Christmas candle
holders for Our Upcoming Craft and
Bake Sale oic Nov. 23. This week
ive're werking on our ceramics pro-
gram.
On Thursday we travel to the St.
Jacobs area for our September bus
trip. Our agenda for the day is to go
to the West Montrose covered
bridge, lunch at Marion's Country
Cupboard and visit The Meeting
Place. The bus is full and everyone
is looking forward to a beautiful
fall day.
-Our October calendars are avail-
able at the centre this week. Our
Thanksgiving Dinners will be held
next week from Oct. 3 to 5. I can
smell the pumpkin pie cooking
now.
Our Program will be cancelled
Oct. 12 and 13 due to the Schedul-
ing of the hospital rummage sale.

. planned for the month, however,
and we'll tell n4: abut du, ma

uled for Oct. 5 and 18. Please call

We are now looking for more vol-
unteers to help with our prograin.

Naturalist club
meets Saturday,
The district nature club, Huron
Fringe Field Naturalists, steps up
its tempo each September and this
year is no exception.
The monthly meeting will be
held in the Pine River United
Church next Tuesday, Sept'. 26. The
program at this meeting promises
to be an excellent one with an illus-
trated talk on mushrooms by Geoff
and Ruth Walker. This will be fol-
lowed by a presentation on the
Saratoga Swamp by Professor Jane
Bowles of London.
• ',HPPN schedules eight meetings,
each with a program and about 16
outings each year. Nine issues of
the club's newsletter g� out to
members, keeping them informed
of activities and promoting conser-
vation and protection of the envi-
ronment.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, members
will be guests of Bill Andrews at his
Belgrave location. Mr. Andrews, a
professor of environmental studies
at the University of Toronto, has
provided the club with very (satisfy-
ing talks in the past, so members
can look forward to this event with
