The event, entitled "Huron
County: An Agricultural Leader
III" will be held Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in
the Clinton Legion. The evening is
planned to celebrate Agri -Food
Week, recognize agriculture in
Huron, and honor local people for
their outstanding leadership and
contributions to the rural communi-
ty.

Wingham Riverview Drive -In
Squirts handed the Tri -County
south division championship to
Goderich last week, losing the third
and deciding playoff game 8-7 in
eight innings.
Wingham opened the scoring in
the second when Travis Baier
stroked a double and Trevor
Machan and Neil Mowbray hit
back-to-back singles.
However, Goderich rebounded
with four unearned runs,
Wingham got one back in the
third on a walk to Shaun Walker
and singles by Jeremy Creeden and
Joel Pegg.
Goderich plated two more runs
in its half of the third to take a 6-2
lead.
The Wingham boys rallied in the
• fifth with five runs which started
again with a walk to Walker. Shawn
Fair, Josh Johnston, Pegg, Creeden,
Baier and Machan then touched off
consecutive singles which gave
Wingham a 7-6 lead.
A solo horherun by Crowley tied
the game for Goderich in the bot-
tom of the seventh and game went
to extra innings. However, it only
lasted one inning as Goderich
scored the winner on a base hit •
Jeff Volland earned the win, giv-
ing up 13 hits, striking out seven
and walking four.
Pegg absorbed the loss, allowing
eight hits, walking, one and striking
out seven.
COMMERCIAL LEAGUE
Marg's Muppet Babies and Gale's
Gummi Bears lead the new season
with four points each. They ane al-
lowed by Barb's' Care, Bears, four,
Elva's Ewocks, three and Jane's Jet -
sons and Betty's Bugs Bunnies,
each with two points.
Sheri Horton had the ladies' high
single of 240 arid the hig-htriple of
590, while Kevin Hickey had the
men's high single of 293 and broth-
er Rod chalked upthe high triple of
692.
Other high games were rolled by:
Rod Hickey 287; Daryl Walker 265,
231; Mike Darling 246 and Ken
McKenzie 225.
