DIRECTOR OF PARKS AND RECREATION
Working with the Parks, Recreation and Community Centres Commit-
tee, and responsible to Town Council, this Department Head is a mem-
ber of the team which implements Council's policies and programs.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Parks and Recreation shall be responsible for planning•
encouraging; initiating; directing; supervising programs, facilities and

Summary of Duties:
• Scheduling, supervision and development of parks and recreation
facilities, including arena, swimming pool, tennis courts, ball
diamonds, parks and trailer parks.
• Development and implementation of policies and programs relating to
leisure and cultural programs and services for the Town.
• Preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.
• Preparation and presentation of monthly reports to Council.
• Liaison with community groups, organizations, agencies and the
general public.
• Consultant to PARCC Committee.
Qualifications:
aAppppl icants possessing the following qualifications are encouraged to
• Graduate of a recognized University or Community College program in
recreation or related field.
• Five year full-time experience in Municipal recreation with at least
three years at a management/supervisory level.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of community and special interest
groups.
• Ability to analyze problems and present written and oral
communications in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as leadership,
management and public relations abilities.
• Certification or eligibility for certification with the Parks and Recreation
Federation of Ontario.
• Also of interest would be a sound working knowledge of any of the
following areas: arena refrigeration, swimming pool fiftration, pool
management, mechanical equipment, facility design, energy
conservation, first aid and CPR, cultural programming.
Salary Range:
$24,668 - $,918 commensurate with experience, skills and qualifica-
tions. This salary range is currently under review.
