'Many friends in the Gorrie and
Wroxeter area were saddened by
the:death of a former pastor, Rev.
Don Pugh of Palmerston, who
assed away peacefully at Port Lor -
Ontario, on Saturday, Aug. 26,
thhis68th year.
Miring his 42 years of Christian
niinistry, Mr. Pugh pastored in the
communities of Palmerston,
Aylmer, Manitoulin, Port Elgin,
Plattsville, Altona, South Buxton,
Corrie -Wroxeter and, most recently,
Learrtington.
He was the beloved husband of
the former Dorothy Bramhill; dear
father of Paul and his wife, Joan, of
Plattsville; Don Jr. and his wife,
Lois, Richmond Hill and Barbara
and her husband, Dirk Loose, Mis-
nds,

by his five granClehildren, Brigette
and Barbara Pugh, Deanne and

is also survived by two sisters, Mrs.
Elroy (Phyllis) Schneider of Kitch-
ener and Mrs. John (Jean) Colley of
Florida. He was predeceased by his
parents,.Fred and Fanny Pugh.
Friends called at the Heritage
Funeral Home, Palmerston, to pay
respects Monday and Tuesday. Rev.
Claran Martin, assisted by Rev.
Clarence Hunking, conducted, the
funeral )service at Palmerston Mis-
sionary Church on Wednesday,
August 30. Interment followed in
Palmerston Cemetery.

Mrs. O. Hohnstein
Funeral service was held Friday,
Sept. 1, at two o'clock at St.
Matthew's Lutheran Church, Mild-
may, for Mrs. Otto Hohnstein of
Belmore who died Wednesday,
Aug. 30, at Wingham and District
Hospital. Interment followed in
Mildmay Lutheran Cemetery. The
Godfrey Schuett Funeral Chapel,
Mildmay, where Mrs. Hohnstein
rested on Thursday evening, was
entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Hohnstein, the former
Amelia Loos, was in her 74th year.
She was the dear wife of Otto; dear
mother of Ruth Poole of Kitchener;
Dorothy Williams, Kincardine; Jean
Merkley of Goderich; Grace Schies-
tel, Kitchener; Anne Coultes, Wing -
ham and Joyce Howarth, Cam-
bridge; loved grandmother of eight
grandchildren: Melody, Tana, Jenny,
Brent, Denise, Jessica, Julie and Jef-
frey. Also surviving are three sisters
and two brothers. She was prede-
ceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Theodore Loos.

Funeral service was held at two
o'clock on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the
Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth, for
Jahn Norman McDowell of
Auburn. Rev. David Snihur officiat-
ed and interment followed in Ball's
Cemetery Auburn,
Pallbearers wereGarth Walden,
Lloyd McDowell, John McDowell,
Sandy Andrews, Arnold Cook and
Bill Seers. Floral tributes were car-
ried by Wayne and Ron McDowell
and Nathan Laidlaw.
Norman McDowell died Satur,
day, Aug. 19, at Wingham and Dis-
trict Hospital at the age of 82. A son,
of the late William McDowell and
Hannah Jane Stackhouse, he was
born in East Wawanosh Township.
He farmed in East Wawanosh
before his retirement to Auburn
and was a member of Auburn Unit-
ed Church.
In 1934, he married the, former
Viola M. Osbaldeston and he was
bereaved by her passing in 1985.
Left to mourn the death of a loved
father and grandfather are Gerald
and Carol McDowell of RR 1, Bel -
grave; Gwen and Art Laidlaw of
Wingham; six grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.

son, Kyle Nicholas, on Aug. 30 at
Wingham and District Hospital.
The new addition weighed in at an
even eight pounds and is a brother
for Scott. Grandparents are Bob and
Willa Harris, Jerry and Mary McG-
lynn.
Seventeen tables
at shoot party
Seventeen tables were in play at
Wingham Legion Hall on Monday
night. High lady was Marie
Merkley and high man was Edna
Davis (playing as a man). George
Mitchell had the most shoots.
Low prizes were awarded to Car-
olyn Cunningham and Hazel Bate-
man, the latter playing a man's
card. Draw prizes were awarded to
Bill Willis, Mary Henderson, Mar-
garet Hastings, Barbara Carbert and
Ethel Montgomery.
The next party will be shoot on
Monday, Sept,.11.

The former Sarah Underwood
was born Jan. 31, 1896, in Howick
Township, a daughter of the late
James Underwood and Jennie
MCCreery. She was predeceased by
her first husband, Wilbert Gallaway
and by her second husband, Burton
Hubbard.
Mrs.
Mrs. Hubhatd was the dear
mother of Wesley Gallaway of Gor-
rie; stepmother of Sharon and
Clifton Coulter, Gorrie; sister of
Wesley Underwood of Brookhaven
Nursing Home, Wingham and the
late Gordon Underwood (1%4). She
was the dear grandmother of sever-
al grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren; dear aunt of several
nieces and nephews.

Child -abuse committee
is sponsoring workshop
The Huron County Community
Child Abuse Coordinating Com-
mittee is sponsoring a workshop on
Oct. 19 at 20 at Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderich. The theme of the
workshop is "Child Sexual Abuse:
Working with the Adults".
Featured speakers include Dr.
Howard Barbaree, associate profes-
sor of psychology at Queen's Uni-
versity and co-director of the
Kingston Sexual Behavior Clinic
and the Warwkworth Sexual
Behavior Clinic.
Connie Coniglio, a second speak-
er,, is a personal counsellor at the
University of Western Ontario. She
has extensive experience as an indi-
vidual therapist for concerns
around family alcoholism, sexual
abuse and eating disorders.
• Meg Lewis Is a sexual abuse
treatment specialist with Family
and Children's Services of London
and Middlesex. She has organized
groups for sexually -abused chil-
dren, non -offending parents and
adult survivors.
Those recommended to attend
this two-day workshop are police,
lawyers, judges, crown attorneys,
teachers, child -protection workers,
mental health professionals, health-
care professionals, politicians, shel-
ter workers and journalists.
Those interested in attending the
workshop are asked to contact the

Abuse Coordinating Committee,
