Ron- ald Pugh, white vacationing at his KM'S cottage at Port Loring. His funeral service was held Wednes- day,,Aug. 30, at Palmerston Mis- sionary Church. Pastor Claran Mar- tin and Rev. Clarence Hunking offi- ciated. Mrs. Joyce Hatt, represent- ing Leamington United Churches, where Mr. Pugh was minister at the time of his death, &peke words of appreciation and Gordon and Elaine Sherk provided special music. His favorite hymn, "The Church's One Foundation", was also sung. Don endeared himself to this community and was responsi- ble for making many ill and lonely people very happy with his many visits. He also was responsible for bringing many errant followers and newcomers into the congregation and the children (and adults) looked forward to his children's stories. He was loved by all and will be greatly and sadly missed, even though he had left this parish. Guests with Mr. and Mrs. Rick Brown were their nephew and nieces, Anthony and Terry Alexan- der of Palmerston and Devin Hutchinson of Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. Helmut Worner vis- ited for a weekend recently with their sons, Richard and Manfred Worner, also friends, Mr. and Mrs. Volker Lange, New Hamburg. Mrs. Mac Allan was in Toronto last weekend where she attended a 50th wedding anniversary celebra- tion and also the CNE. Mrs. Allan Griffith visited with Mr. and Mrs. James Roberston in Goderich on Monday. A number from here attended the 40th anniversary celebration of Warren and Jackie Fines in Howick Community Centre on Aug 25 and the visitation and funeral of Rev. Don Pugh at Palmerston Aug. 28- 30. Con- federation plans were discussed here in 1864 and. the Legislative Assembly for :PEI still meets there. The countryside was beautiful, with its red soil and fields of grain and potatoes. On Sunday, they vis- ited Woodleigh, near Kensington, giving a glimpse of Britain. They watched horses and their riders gathering Irish moss and enjoyed eating lobster. - 80th birthday party for. Isabel Adams GORRIE—Approximately 100 relatives and friends came , to extend best wishes to Mrs. Isabel Adams of Gorrie on the occasion of her 80th birthday, which she cele- brated Sunday. Among those attending from a distance were grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Knox and family of Owen Sound; Karen King, Hamil- ton; Heather and Susan Struthers of London; Kevin and Colleen Riebling and family, Listowel; Deb- bie Foxton; Kinloss and Mr. and Mrs. Douglas King and family, Fordwich. Other guests were from London, Wingham, Mildmay, Brussels, Lis- towel and Harriston. A native of Turnberry Township, Mrs. Adams moved to a farm in Howick when she married Harvey Adams. Upon retiring from active farming, Mr. and Mrs. Adams built a, new home in Gorrie, where she continues to reside. Aug. 27. Rev. B. F. O'Neill officiated at the ceremony. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weishar, Colleen, Rebecca and Melanie of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kieffer, Melissa, Amanda and Denise of Wroxeter. Ronald is godfather for his niece and godmother is Mary Carol Black of Belleville. Nicole's parents, Michael and Corinne Black, entertained in her honor at their home following the christening. Bruce Grainger . of Montreal also attended and visited his mother, Mrs. C. Grainger. Miss Betty Martin of Jackson, Ohio, spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Robin Bolander. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Gingrich of Cambridge also visited at the same home. Nancy Lynn and David, Goertzen of Langham, Saskatchewan, visited a couple of days with Mrs. John Strong. They also visited Mrs. Net- tie Hutchison, Stanley Edgar and Mrs. Annie McKprcher of the Molesworth area. Janette Strong of Lethbridge spent a couple of weeks with her parents, .Mr. and Mrs. Perry Strong and other relatives. A summer reading program finale was held at the Corrie Public Library on Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. Con- tests, games and stories were enjoyed by the children who were regular readers during the summer. The regular Storytime for children 3-5 years of age will begin Sept. 6 at 1 p.m. at the library. The two young people are the chil- dren of Joe and Carol Clark of RR 5, Wingham, Lloyd and Lillian Apple- by of RR 2, Blyth and .their vows were recited before Rev. J. Rea Grant. Dusty rose was the predominat- ing color in decorations sutrpund- ing the altar. Hap Swatridge was organist and providing special music throughout the double -ring ceremony, were the New Life Singers, Pat Gaunt, Dianne English and Louise Bloemberg. The bride was given in marriage by her father and chose a long white satin gown with cathedral train trimmed with appliqued cutouts; delicate appliques hand= beaded with pearls and sequins on the bodice and around the high neckline and long sheer sleeves with beaded trim. A wide rhine- stone headband, accented with pearls and sprays of sequins, held a back pouf from which cascaded a long veil. She carried a bouquet of dusty rose, pink and white roses,'"' accented with green ivy ani; strands of pearls. e, Tharon Riley of Wingham was maid' of honor and bridesmaids were Lori Appleby of London, Brenda Howard of Strathroy, Lianne Swanson of Goderich and Lynn Howard, Strathroy. They wore dusty rose cocktail -length satin dresses with three -quarter - length sleeves. In a white satin dress trimmed with dusty rose ruffles was the flower girl, Melissa McLellan of Ethel. Adam Anderson of Londes- borough was bearer of the two rings. Performing the duties of best man was Darren Richmond of Blyth and ushering guests were Dale Appleby of Parkhill, Ron Clark of London, Andy Jarvis of Wroxeter and Doug Craig, Kitchen- er.
