Belgrave minister
urges forgiveness
BELGRAVE—'Jesus forgave; go
and do likewise." These were
words of direction from Rev. Peter
Tucker as he spoke to his congrega-
tion at Knox United Church on
Sunday, Aug. 13.
Mr. Tucker chose scripture from
the 23rd chapter of St. Luke's
Gospel. This passage describes the
evil treatment inflicted on Jesus as
He stood before Pilate and Jesus'
reaction during • His trial and cruci-
fixion. Jesus' accusers anticipated
that He would collapse or cry out
for help as He writhed in pain on
the cross with nails in His hands
and feet and blood trickling over
His face from the crown of thorns.
Instead, the Master said, "Father,
forgive these people, they don't
know what they are doing."
Mr. Tucker added, "Each of us is
guilty of continually crucifying our
Savior and must beg forgiveness."
He also stressed the importance of
forgiving others, with the observa-
tion that "people who cannot for-
give and forget a family or other
feud are not only scarred, they are
wounded".
Arrangements of colorful gladioli
beautified the sanctuary of the
church. Mrs. George Procter and
her daughter, Jennifer, presented a
piano and oboe prelude. Mrs. Proc-
