HEIGH HO, HEIGH HO—It's off to the parade we go. Disney
characters came to life during last Tuesday's annual bicycle' and
buggy parade. About 30 participants rallied at Cruickshank Park
before the pai'ade for judging. The parade route took the group to
the pool, where they enjoyed a penny carnival and a free swim.
LONESOME DWARF—Dyne Stuckey, aged two, had other
ideas for amusement at the Penny Carnival held in Riverside Park
Tuesday evening. Children dressed as Disney characters for the an-
nual bike parade swarmed to the park for fun and a free swim.

Request
for signs
denied
Turnberry Council has turned
down a request for "Children Play-
ing" notices on Helena St. between
the bridge and Hwy 86., m the low-
er town.
"Nothing is going to slow down
traffic more than it does," one coun-
cillor noted, pointing out that most
vehicles slow down for the bridge
and the Hwy. . 86 stop sign at the
end of the street.
Consultant
hired by
Turnberry
A public relations consultant will
be hired by Turnberry and Wing -
ham to make a pitch to Huron
County regarding the proposed
Huronview facility.
The township agreed to the hir-
ing of public relations consultant
Bob Murphy for $2,000 provided
the town is willing to pay half the
cost at its last meeting.
Huron County is scheduled to
close the present Huronview nurs-
ing home in Clinton, and build two
new homes for the aged in the
north and south ends of the county.
Councillor John Cox pointed out
to council that the Town of Brussels
is making a strong pitch to have the
north -end facility located there. '7
think we should make a pitch also,"
he suggested.
No PCBs
found in
Ontario gas
An analysis of 125 fuel samples
taken by the Ontario Ministry of
the Environment shows no contam-
ination from PCBs or solvents.
The ministry analyzed samples of
gasoline, diesel fuel and home heat-
ing fuel from gas stations, compa-
nies and private residences across
the province. Samples were taken
from 32 communities including Lis-
towel and Bruce County.
The ministry's laboratory tested
each sample for PCBs and 18 halo-
genated volatile chemical com-
pounds which are found in waste
solvents.
The testing results are in addition
to 141 gasoline, diesel fuel and fuel
oil samples reported by the min-
istry on June 20.
These results bring the number of
fuel samples analyzed by the min-
istry to 368. The ministry has found
no PCBs or halogenated solvents in
any of the fuel samples since it be-
gan testing.
The ministry will continue to test
for contaminants which have been
alleged to be in fuels imported into
Ontario, employing surprise spot
checks at truck weigh scales.
