EVIREperpor Vat DEATHS BESWETHERICK—Passed away Monday, July 24, at Listowel Memorial Hospital, Miss Vera Lenora Beswetherick of Fordwich, in her 82nd year. Lenora Besweth- erick was the beloved daughter of the Hate Joseph and Lucy Besweth- erick and was predeceased by one sister, Violet. Funeral service was held at i:' tts Funeral Home, Gorrie Chapel, on July 27, with Rev. D. Beck officiating. Pallbearers were Glen Martin, Leo Ruttan, Russel Ruttan, Bill Magill, Everett Zur- brigg and Wray Vines. Interment followed in Fordwich Cemetery. Mrs. Lillian Newman dies at Walkerton A former resident of the town of Wingham and more recently a resi- dent of Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, Mrs. Lillian Newman passed away suddenly on Monday, July 17, at the County of Bruce General Hospital, Walkerton, in her 85th year. She was predeceased by her hus- band, Fred, in 1954, also three sis- ters and two brothers. She is sur- vived by one sister, Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Leggate; four sons, Don, Doug, Bill and Rick; three daugh- ters, Mrs. George (Barbara) Tervit, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) McDonald and Mrs. John (Betty) Gill. Funeral service was conducted on Thursday, July 20, at two o'clock at The McBurney Funeral Home by Rev. Bonnie Lamble. Interment fol- lowed in Greenhill Cemetery, in Lucknow. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Ross Newman, Les Tervit, Bruce McDonald, Robert Newman, Scott Newman and Tim Newman, with honorary bearers being four more grandsons, Ron Tervit, Michael Gill, Jim McDonald and Rick Newman. Mr. Yeo worked for Ontario Hydro and was also in the road construction business, operating one of the first stone -crushing con- veyors in Canada. Later in life he operated a fencing contracting busi- ness for chain-link fencing and was in housing construction. (Reid) Smith, 286 Broadway, Tillsonburg, formerly of Wingham. Mrs. Audrey Smith resided in Tillsonburg for the past 35years and Arts a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Tillsonburg. She'was born in Wing - ham on Aug. 28, 1913. Her father was the late William B. Reid and her mother, the late Elizabeth Simp- son. She passed away Friday, July 28, at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia in her 76th year. She is sur- vived by her husband, W. Hartley Smith of Tillsonburg. It was held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bob Ames of Owen Sound. More than 60 family members attended the event. Included were her own children and spouses, many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Family trav- elled to Owen Sound from Corun- na, Sarnia, Ottawa, Kitchener, Hamilton and Wingham. Events of the day included a horseshoe tour- nament, games of badminton and swimming: A potluck dinner, complete with a beautiful cake made and decorat- ed by her daughter, Velma Wismer, capped the party. Ivan Rivett and Leon Russell were first with four wins, while Dave Ablett and Jack Higgins were second at three wins and a plus of 50. In third place were Harold Carter and Kevin Scott, three wins and a plus of 39. Syd Lawson and Murray MacFarlane were fourth at three wins and a plus of 22, followed by fifth -place Eugene Kuntz and Jim Rivett, two wins and a plus of 52. Rounding out the scoring in sixth were Bert Worrell and Glen Case - more, no wins and a plus of 74.
