Sisters entertain
at summer events
WROXETER—The McMichael
Sisters, Janice, Karen, Judith and
Rhonda, along with their parents,
Ron and Ethel, left July 6 for
Govan, Saskatchewan, about 65
miles north of Regina, where the
girls were scheduled to entertain
during the Olde Tyme Fiddle Festi-
val on the 7th and 8th. Not only did
they dance at the school where the
event was held, but they enter-
tained the shoppers and shopkeep-
ers by dancing on the main street of
downtown Govan. They also held
two workshops on Friday and Sat-
urday, teaching the basic steps of
traditional st pdanct g to all ages.
After a fun weekend, the
Bluevale UCW
honors minister
BLUEVALE—Members of the
United Church Women met in the
Bluevale Park for a picnic on July
26, to honor their minister, Rev.
Bonnie Lamble, who is being mar-
ried Aug. 11 in the Walton United
Church. Balloons and streamers
decorated the pavilion and Bonnie
was invited to a specially -decorated
chair by Mrs. Isabel Wheeler. A cor-
sage of summer flowers made by
Mrs. Jean Mathers, was pinned on
the bride-to-be by Mrs. Carol
Nicholson. A medley of love songs
played on the keyboard by Mrs.
Shirley Skelton, was enjoyed and
Mrs. Nancy Corrigan led the group
through "Exercises to Music".
The roll call was answered by
presenting favorite recipes written
on cards, to the bride. Games were
won by Mrs. Eileen Sellers and Mrs.
Shirley Nicholson, who gave their.
prizes to the bride. A reading,
"Love Is Like a Rose", by Mrs.
Isabel Wheeler, preceded the pre-
sentation by Mrs. Corrigan of a
quilted bedspread to the,guest of
honor who, in her reply, was partic-
ularly moved by the fact that the
ladies had done the planning and
quilting themselves.
A short business meeting was
held and everyone was reminded
of the regional rally in Belgrave on
Oct 11. It is to be held in Bluevale in
1990. Cake and ice cream were
served and a social time enjoyed by
all.
Fordwich WI
enjoys picnic
and farm tour
FORDWICH—Members, hus-
bands and guests of the Women's
Institute met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Russel Ruttan recently and all
went to the farm of Mr. and Mrs.
Les Halliday, enjoyed a tour and
viewed antiques. They then
returned to the Ruttan home for a
potluck supper which was enjoyed
on the lawn.
During the business portion of
the meeting, a donation was made
toward an air conditioner for the
Fordwich Hall, also toward the fair
board and the hall board. Miss Jodi
Potts will represent the Fordwich
Institute at the Fair Queen contest
in October. A vote of thanks was
extended to Mr. and Mrs. Halliday
and Mr. and Mrs. Ruttan.
Everyone then moved inside to
the family room, where Mrs. Hol -
ger Feldskov showed a videotape
of the Fordwich 135th Homecom-
ing, the opening ceremonies,
parade, dances and different enter-
tainment provided during the
weekend. Members also enjoyed
pictures taken at the Halliday farm,
which brought a very interesting
evening to a close.
