Optimist athletes turn in stellar performances Athletes from the Wingham Opti- mist Track and Field Club compet- ed in the Ontario Track and Field championships' held at McMaster University, Hamilton, on the week- end. The heat and humidity' were oppressive, but the Wingham com- petitors came up with some fine results. Julie Lisle, running as a Bantam, crossed the finish line in third :place in the 80 -metre hurdles final to earn a bronze medal and a personal best time of 14.44 seconds. In the Bantam girls' discus, she captured the gold medal with a first=place throw of 23.28 m. She also an the 200 m in a personals best time of 29.44 sec. Natascha Muscheid, in her .best - ever effort in the Bantam 'girls` triple jump, leaped 9.45 m to gip- ture sixth place. In the 400 m event,, which she ran in the heat of the. afternoon, she came close to *wil- ing her personal best with a ts.03.0 minute clocking, She also ran the 200 rn in 28.58 sec.
