The Bears beat Brown's Buddies The Shoppers' Drug •Mart -spon- sored Bluevale Bares were tri- umphant over Brown's Buddies of Trowbridge last Wednesday by a count of 8-5, Brown's Buddies had been unde- feated in their first nine season games, but the, Bares showed them their `strength. Starting` with only eight players, the Bares knew it was going to be a tough match, but the injured Tammy Kieffer arrives just in time, The Bares placed a lot of great hits, including two triples by Arlene Johnston and a triple and greatly -needed home run by pitch- er Judy Lappage. She also set a meet and Ontario record in the discus. (Track Club Photo) - . Erb hurls with the best at elimination tourney The-Wingham BP Juniors played in the OASA Junior Men's. Elimina- tions lim :na-tions at Napanee last weekend. The North .F'redrirksburg Juniors won the 32 -team, double -knockout tourney to represent Ontario in the Junior Nationals to be held in New Brunswick tater this summer. Although the BPs were eliminat- ed in the two games, pitcher Dar- win arwi Erb proved . that he can pitch with the lest Junior pitchers in the prbvittco. The Wingham hurler did not -allow an earned run in his 11 and two-thirds innings of pitching. In the first game, the BP Juniors lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to the Sarnia Ranson Juniors. Sarnia scored the only run of the game in the sixth inning following a double and a throwing error. Erb dominated the Sarnia batters, striking out nine hitters while allowing only four hits. The BPs got singles from Corey McKee, Steve Coultes and Sandy McDonald, but could not get a hit when runners got on base. Lack of offense once again proved costly in game two as East Williamsburg defeated Wingham 3- 0 to eliminate the BPs, Torn McDon- ald started for the BPs, but East Williamsburg scored three times in the first one and two-thirds innings on five hits. Erb, in four and one-half innings of relief, allowed only two hit. However, the Wingham bats were not able to produce any offense. Wingham hits were, all singles by Byron Bowman, Sandy McDonald and Erb. The BPs' next home game is :oni ht, July 11, at 9 p.m. against :he .r:.-lmore Intermediates, 'k\
