Single -round, 50 -point antes
were played last Saturday in the
heat at the Wingharn Sportsmen's
Club tournament.
Harold Pridham of Staffa and
Lorne Kuntz of Chepstow topped
the day with five wins and a plus of
47 Ivan Gardner of Wingharn and
Fred Wickens, Kitchener, we#.. sec-
ond at five wins and a plus of 31.
Harold Carter of G9dericb and
Joe Wickens, Kitchener, were third
with four wins and a plus of 45;
while Lorne Hamilton of Wingham
and Eugene Kuntz, Walkerton,
were fourth with three wins and a
plus of 110.
Bob Donaldson of London and
Lyle Fluter, Chepstow, were fifth
with two wins and a plus of 107.
Herman Fisher of Benmiller and
Ivan Rivett, Goderich, were sixth at
'ane win and a plus of 183. Round-
ing out the scoring in seventh spot
were Orval Coxon of London and
Jim Wickens, Wingharn, one .grin
and aplus of 120.
The next tournament is Saturday,
July 8, at 1 p.m.
Bares lose
last week
The Shoppers' Drug Mart -spon-
sored Bluevale - res were defeated
by Belgrave last Monday evening
by a score of 12-10.
It was a close game all the way,
with a tie at the end of the fifth and
sixth innings.
Gorrie swamped the Bares 15-5
last Wednesday night in Bluevale.
Corrie was hitting well and the
Bares weren't catching much. This
week's winners were Julie Visser
and Jean Ross.
LEMONADE FOR ME—Last Saturday's hot and humid weather
was perfect for a tall, cold glass of lemonade and Margie Gordon
was on hand at the Welsh Country Fayre at Belgrave to provide it.
Stepping up for some lemonade are little Alicia Makas of London
and grandmother Mabel Wheeler of Belgrave.
SPECIAL PRESENTATION—Ed Daer, right, president of the
Wingham Police Association, made a presentation to retiring
Madill Principal Ken Wood at a recent tea in his honor. Mr. Wood
was presented with a ball cap and keeper plaque in appreciation
for all he has done over the years in fostering good relations
between the department and the school. Marilyn Wood also is
shown with her husband.

Keith Moffatt and Paul McKee were
fifth, three wins and a plus of 31.

OPP office
opens at Blyth
Community -oriented policing
came to the Village of Blyth official-
ly last week with the opening of an
extended -services office in the old
library.
Several Ontario Provincial Police
representatives and local digni-
taries attended the open house and
ribbon -cutting ceremony.
Blyth Reeve Albert Wasson
extended a brief welcome. Superin-
tendent Murray Peer of the Mount
Forest OPP responded by outlining
the role that Wingham OPP Consta-
ble Mike Alexander will play in
Blyth.
Mr. Alexander has been a mem-
ber of the OPP for 10 and one-half
years, six of which have been spent
at Wingham. He currently resides
at Belgrave.
It is expected that Mr. Alexander
will spend 30 to 40 per cent if lus
shift in the area. In addition to
Blyth, he also is liaison officer for
Morris and East Wawanosh Town-
ships.

Green's Meat Market and Abattoir Limited of Wingham, Ontar-
io won recognition for an entry in the Annual Cured Meat Competi-
tion, held in. Markham, Ontario, in conjunction with the 9th Annual
Convention of the Ontario independent Meat Packers and
Processors.
Kevin Green representing Green's Meat Market and Abattoir
Limited of Wingham, Ontario placed FIRST in the Summer Sau-
sage category. Entries were judged on the basis of aroma, flavour,
eye appeal, shape and texture.
The 3rd Annual Cured Meat Competition held as part of the On-
tario Convention of Meat Processors, draws entries in 5 product cat-
egories from across Ontario. Judges for this years panel consisted of
Dr. Ron Usborne, Meat Scientist, University of Guelph; Cathy Aker,
Swine Specialist, Ont. Ministry of Agriculture and Food; Fred Scholl,
Sheridan College -Hotel and Restaurant Division and Klaus Kappa,
Technical Director - MMIS.

province's only trade organization representing small businessmen in
the meat processing, packaging and provisionary industry.
