Torn McDonald pitched the com- plete game for Wingham, allowing seven hits and striking out eight batters. Flett and Byron Bowman. led the Bi' offense with two hits each. 1• Lynda Harkness sets two records at meet Wingham's Maitland Athletics Club had an excellent showing at the Royal !Canadian Legion District 'C' competition at Kincardine on Saturday, June 24. The star of the day in the Bantam girls' age group was Lynda Hark- ness, winning twd events with meet record-setting distances. In the shot put event, Harkness broke the old mark of 10 metres and 90 centimetres, a record she held from the year before, with a put of 11.43m° On her second attempt in the dis- cus throw, Harkness hurled the implement 34•.96m, once again breaking her own record of 34.82m, She also placed third in the javelin throw. Paul Sakasov,15, competed in the Midget category for boys 17 and under, winning the javelin event with a toss of 39.40m, Sakasov recorded 34.28m in the discus for the bronze and 10.87m in the shot put, good for a fourth -place finish.
