"G'R rit 5 GOES TO TORON-

Edited by

KENNEDY
On June 2, the Grade 5-6 class
went on a day's excursion to Toron-
to. We came to school at 8.30 a.m.
and were scheduled to arrive at the
Provincial. Parliament Buildings at
11 a.m. On the way we got lost! Not
panic, terror, bewildered lost, but
• nevertheless, lost! Between them,
Mr. Harrison and Mrs° Baumgarten
found us again and we arrived in
plenty of time.
The Parliament buildings were
beautiful. I'd like to live there, pro-
viding I wouldn't have to clean it!
There were paintings and busts
and an old Victorian dress. There
were also some model trilliums, a
raw amethyst and a raw nickel. In
the new wing, there was even a
model of a ship, sails unfurled,
completely metal.
We. had lunch in the park and
then went to the Royal Ontario
Museum. In the R.O.M. there were
numerous exhibits. We only saw a
few.
The first one was an ancient
Egyptian exhibit of two mummies,
one open and one closed, burial
masks, and a "bed with no mat-
tress". We then went into a bat
cave. It had high windows of black
glass and was therefore dimly lit.
Opening out of it was a Winding`
cave. In it was 3,000 bats.
There were also dinosaurs. The
dinosaurs had a background of
leaves, while others were mounted
on the walls.
There was also an exhibit on the
eanderthal man. Beside this were
me very large bones, with a
lease touch" sign on it. The
nes were from a brontosaurus.
After this, we left for the pian.
