The 89th District annual meeting
of Huron West Women's Institute
was held Monday, May 29, at the
Benmiller United Church. The
theme was "Preparing for the '90s".
The District president, Mrs. Mar-
garet Taylor, opened the day's ses-
sion. Mrs. Stella Reaburn of the
Tiger Dunlop branch welcomed the
65 ladies. Mrs. Clare Van Camp,
secretary -treasurer, read the min-
utes and correspondence. Mrs.
Beatrice McEllwain of Goderich
Township branch gave several
readings and the year's functions of
FWIO were given by Mrs. Cecil
Mrs, Jane Muegge of the Rural
Organization Specialist gave the
year's 4-H report. There were 500
girls enrolled in the project, "Work-
ing With Wool",
The morning session ended with
the Benmiller church ladies serving
salad plates. Mrs. Len Archambault
introduced the head table guests,
with everyone replying. Crafts
were sold by the Auburn branch.
The afternoon opened with ail 10
branches reporting on their special
events of the year. The Blyth branch
conducted an impressive memorial
service for four members who
passed away in the District during
the year.
Mrs. Taylor introduced the guest
speaker, Beth Wilck, nutrition con-
sultant of Goderich, who spoke on
"Healthy Eating". Pennies for
Friendship were given by the Dun-
gannon branch. Jean Philips of St.
Helens stirred up the audience with
a lively poem, "Old Model T"; the
public relations report was given by
Mrs. Jacklin and Mrs. William
Porter reported on the Tweedsmuir

dent, Mrs. Margaret Taylor; presi-

dents, Mrs. Ross Higgins, Nits. Len
Archambault; secretary -treasurer,
Mrs. Clare Van Camp; public rela-
tions, Mrs. Leonard James; curator,
Mrs. William Porter; District dele-
gate, Mrs. Hunter; program coordi-
nator, Mrs. Richard Buchanan.
Londesborough branch thanked
the ladies for a very interesting day
and Goderich Township extended
the invitation for 1990.

On Monday, June 5, members of
the PHAM Club had a luncheon to
honor Mrs. Bert Mathers of Wing -
ham, who soon will be moving
from town,
This was the club's 45th reunion
and was held at the home of Mrs.
George Galbraith, Turnberry
Estates.
Antique cars
are displayed
this Sunday
Follow the road to the Ontario
Agricultural Museum this Sunday,
June 10 and shift into the era of
goggles and dusters, Packards and
Models
"Tin Lizzies and Rumble Seats”
will feature over 200 antique cars
dating from 1898 to 1969 and is part
of the national judging meet of the
Historical Automobile Society of
Canada.
Over 16 classes of antique cars
will be judged, beginning at 11 a.m.
Vehicles will remain on display for
the entire day. Features at this
year's event include a classic
antique car display, music by the
Wright family of West Montrose
and a special display by the Cana-
dian Service Station Memorabilia
Association.
Take this opportunity to discover
the museum's 32 -hectare site. You'll
see live demonstrations of black-
smith, wheelwright, spinning and
weaving of wool. Plus, you'll see
farm animals and have a chance to
explore over 30 buildings and dis-
plays.
The museum is located five kilo-
metres west of Milton. From High-
way 401, take Exit 320 or 312 and
follow the signs.
