Approximately 54 Edgar rela-
tives, as well as Laurent Van Der-
weyer of Liege, Belgium, Rotary
exchange student for a year who is
presently staying at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Edgar of
Petrolia, gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar and
Don of RR 4, Wingham, for the holi-
day weekend. Other relatives pre-
sent were from Brigden, Blyth,
Petrolia, Toronto, Islington, Wing -
ham, Lucknow, Aylmer, Tavistock
and Belgrave.
Mrs. Margaret Fear attended the
graduation of her grandson, Paul
Fear, on Friday, May 19, from
Ridgetown College of Agricultural
Technology Paul is a son of Wayne
and Monica Fear, RR 4, Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Tidor Oravec and
Kristian of Stratford attended Knox
United Church on Sunday and later
visited at the home of Mrs. Mabel
Wheeler.

families in the loss of a dear hus-
band, father and grandfather,
William Clark Johnston, who
passed away at the Wingham and

was baptized by Rev. John G.
Roberts Sunday morning at Calvin-
Bride United Church. Following the

weekend with their parents, Mr.

Mrs. Margaret Robinson of
Goderich spent a couple of days
with Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nichol-
son and Mr, and Mrs. Albert Cook.
YOUTH GROUP CAR WASH—The youth group at the Pente-
costal Church held a car wash last Saturday at Ralph's Texaco in.
Wingham. The money raised will go toward the "Wing the Word"
program which supplies equipment to missionaries. Taking part in
the car wash were Linda Kirby, Debbie Jennings, Brenda White and
Lorna Humphrey,

SCHOOL BUS ' SAFETY --Ontario Provincial Police Constable
John Marshall paid„ a visit to several area schools last week, includ-
ing Turnberry Central, to teach next year's Kindergarten young-
sters about school bus safety. Mr. Marshall spoke to: top, Jessica

We are doing a unit on animals
with birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians and insects.
Mrs. Johnston is coming to our
class and will be doing creative
explanations in a language activity
about all different kinds of animals.
We just have finished the Canada
Fitness Test and some of us
achieved the standing_of excellent.
Happy birthday to Chris Topham.

The Grade 3-4 is doing electives,
such as drama. This Thursday and
Friday we are going to Camp
Wyoka.
We are studying newspapers. It is
fun! We have made stories with
headlines and have written a class-
room book called Oh Those
Recipes.

Mrs. Johnston, the area resource
teacher for enrichment, was at our
school last week. She did a SCAM-
PER activity with our class.
Each letter' in SCAMPER stands
for something to improve your
story. Using SCAMPER, you could
change the story "Little Red Riding
Hood" to the story of "The Ginger-
bread Boy Who Visited His Grand-
mother". This will help us to write
better stories.

Mr. Doubleday's Grade 7-8 class
has been very busy studying for
their tests this past week. The
Grade 7s had a test on fractions in
math and a test in family studies.
The Grade 8s °also Wrote: a 'telt 'in

' industrial arts. They are looxing
forward to a future test on per cent
in math.

Mr. Raynard's Grade 8 class is
doing perspective in art. In math
we are doing angles. We are in Unit
10 in spelling and are working on
descriptive writing in English.
The students are trying hard to
finish reading their novels before
the due date.

Last' Thursday, Howick hosted its
annual music night. The concert
band, Grade 8 band, Grade 6-7 and
the intermediate choir were the
major attractions.
The concert band performed
their two festival pieces, "Cabo
Rico" and the "Voyageur March".
The choir performed four songs,
"The Rose", "Both Sides Now",
