PRIMARY REPORT

This week everyone in Grade 1 is
enjoying dinosaur activities. We are
happy to see the warmer weather.
In physical education, we are prac-
tising for the track and field day on
May 26.

JUNIOR REPORT

The Grade 3-4 class measured
our school. It is 480 metres and 15
centimetres. On June 1 and 2, we
will be going to Camp Wyoka. We
can't wait! We are doing electives
and they are great.

Mr. Maerten's Grade 4 students
have started their newspaper unit.
It has been going pretty good. We
finally finished our "Food for
Thought" unit. We're almost fin-
ished our novel study. We have
started to practise for track and
field, using the pits and the mats,

series of videotapes. We also are
starting a massive year-end
newsletter.

INTERMEDIATE REPORT

Mr. Livermore's Grade 7 class
finished its math tests on rates and
ratios. Our spelling test on verbs
was last Friday. Some are starting,
wide others are finishing, centres
on pioneers. In -gym, we are`practis-
ing for track and field.

Mr. Doubleday's Grade 7-8 class
has been very busy completing its
history activity projects. They have
been writing and discussing their
plays and preparing to present
them in June.
On May 15, the Grade 8 students
who are to be attending the F. E.
Madill Secondary School visited the
school for an orientation night.

SPORTS REPORT

Last Wednesday, -students from
Howick attended the North Huron
Bordenball Tournament at East
Wawanosh. They were split into
teams with two students from each
of the six schools. Everyone
enjoyed the day.
SPECIAL REPORT

Plans for the 25th anniversary
celebration of our school are under-
way. The anniversary committee
has attempted to locate addresses
of former graduates from the years
1964 to 1983.
Many invitations already have
been mailed. However, if you have
not received your invitation, would
you please contact the school. Keep
June 9 open for our celebration.

Two goldfish are visiting the
Kindergarten classroom and the
children are working on fish -related
activities.
The Kindergarten classes are join-
ing the Grade 7-8 reading buddies
in a visit to the family studies class-
room at the high school this week.
They also will take part in some
primary -type activities.

Miss Turner's Grade 2 class is
working on a mystery garden unit.
They have planted many kinds of
seeds. They are looking at different
stages of growth and doing experi-
ments with them.
In math, they are looking at tem-
perature.

Grade 3 has been pleased to see
daffodils and tulips brightening the
school yard on John Street. In the
flower bed are the perennials they
planted last fall. Top soil was added
last week and soon mums will be
planted. Sweet William and
marigolds will be added later. They
are growing in the classroom right
now.
A kind gift from the Wingham
Horticultural Society provided
financial assistance for this project.

Mrs. Overholt's class really
enjoyed the integrated unit on
color, especially the tie-dyeing.
They also planted a flowerbed out-
side their room.
The pupils enjoyed seeing
"Elmer, the Safety Elephant".
Daniel Sterenberg was the high
bowler. Swimming is now over at
Vanastra for the season.

Mr. Lindsay's Grade 4 class had a
science test and the Grade 4s hand-
ed in their book reports. They also
did pop-up art, Mary Lisle got her
tonsils out. She had to get stitches
in her throat because it wouldn't
stop bleeding. Jessica had her cast
removed from her foot.
